And yet…

“Answer me,”I said, grazing my teeth over the lobe of her ear.

“Yes,” she breathed out.

A sneer curled my lips as I moved back to my seat.“Of course you would. Sluts like youwill never turn down cock.”

I wrapped my hands around the steering wheel, needing a minute to calm my racing heartand the unexpected wave of angerthatrolled through me at my own words.

Sluts like you.

The thought of Kiera with anyone, her fiancé included, pissed me the fuck off. Sheshould have been mine. I should have been the only one who got to be inside her, yet she was willing to spread her legs for anyone as long as it got her what she wanted.

Across from me, she released a defeated sigh.“What happened to you, Jackson? There was a time when you cared about me. When you loved me.”

Red mist flashed in front of my vision at her soft words, and before I could stop myself, I flew across the seats, wrapping my hand around her throat and squeezing, blocking off her air supply. Her panicked hands scrambled against mine in a bid to release me, but I didn’t let up.

“What happened to me?Youhappened to me,”I snarled, hot rage pumping through myveins as she swallowed against my grip.“I gave you my heart, Kiera. We had our whole life planned out, andthenyou decided to rip my heart from my chest and shit all over our future. If I’m like this, it’s becauseyoumade me this way.”

I released her throat and fell back into my chair, sucking in deep breaths. I needed to calmthe hell down, otherwise there was a chance I wouldn’t release her throat the next time.

“Jackson… I’m so-”

I slammed my hand down on the steering wheel, the thud making her flinch. “Don’t tellme you’re sorry, Kiera. It’s too fucking late forthat.”

A deathly silence filled the car, and as I stared at the road ahead, a war raged in my head. One half told me to throw her out of the car and forget the fucked up plan I’d concocted, the other half telling me to drive the car to our destination so I could get on with breaking her.

But I didn’t move.

After a long minute, I looked over to her, finding her eyes brimming with unshed tears.“Who was it?”I asked for the thousandth time in my life.

I didn’t know why I needed to find out the name of the cunt she’d cheated on me with.Maybe it was the only thing stopping me from getting closure.

She sighed again.“It was ten years ago-”

“I don’t give a fuck how long ago it was. I want to know who was so fucking importantto youthatyou were prepared to destroy everything we were building.”

A tear slid down her cheek, which she quickly brushed away.“I can’t tell you.”

“Can’t or won’t?”

She tore her gaze away, chewing on her bottom lip as she stared out the window ahead. My mind churned as I glowered at her. I didn’t understand why she wouldn’t tell me. It was as if she enjoyed using her secret to torment me more than I already was.

I twisted the key to start the ignition again, a fresh resolve washing through me.

She’d learn.

She’d learn the hard fucking way.

“You know what, Kiki?”She glanced over at me, her eyes still filled with tears.“Youwant to know how to make this all go away?”She swallowed, her nervous gaze holding mine.“Give me his name. It’s as simple asthat. Tell me who knocked you up, and this all goes away. Don’t tell me, and things are about to get a whole lot worse for you.”

Her eyes closed as a single tear spilled out, sliding gracefully down her cheek. When she opened them again after an eternity had passed, they were filled with determination.“Do your worst, Jackson.”

A malevolent grin pulled at my mouth as I hit the gas.“Oh, believe me, Kiki. I plan to.”

Kiera kept her mouth shut until I pulled the car into the driveway of our destination. “Where are we?”she asked, staring wide-eyed at the huge white house in front of us.

“You’ll see. Come on.”
