And I did.For the first time, I wasn’t hiding.I was part of the light, the laughter, the chaos. Those rainbow sparkles still clung to my skin, and Ashton’s smile anchored me in the storm. As we swayed to the music, while Freddie sang about finding love.
ASHTON
“Idon’t...I don’t knowif I can do this.”Robbie was biting his lip as he glanced around the room, eyes wild. For a moment, I thought he was going to bolt for the door.
I leaned close, voice low and warm against his ear.“Relax.No one’s watching you.Everyone’s too busy being themselves.”
A few of the regulars recognised me; some I’d shared a dance with; some were just hookups. With just a nod of acknowledgement, I pulled Robbie into the crowd. Then it was wall to wall bodies, and I pressed closer to him, breathing him in.He felt so warm and so solid beneath my hands. So vibrant.Like a glimmer of light to brighten my soul.Music pounded, lights flashed, and men twirled. But none of them caught or held my attention as much as Robbie.Right now he was mine, and I had no intention of letting him go.I watched as a pink drink was thrust into his hand by one of my former fuck-buddies.I barely held back a laugh as I watched him sniff it, down it in one go, then pull a face.He was so endearing, so genuine that I couldn’t help but wrap my arm around his waist, needing to feel him close.
I looked into his eyes and felt part of my soul reach out towards him.I held him closer, my fingers tingling at the contact.Pulse jumping.Nudging his shoulder as a passing queen filled the air with glitter.Funny how I’d never felt the need to connect with anyone before. But Robbie was different.I knew why.His father had brought us together.Paved the way.Leading him to me, like a path of electronic breadcrumbs.A flicker of emotion crossed his face.Leaning in, I asked him.“You’re thinking about him, aren’t you?”
“Yeah.And about me.About...what I want.Who I want to be.Who I want to love.”
His words seemed to hang in the air for a moment before they struck me, making my heart flutter.
Me-love me.I thought, looking into his crystal-blue eyes.
He sparkled.Rainbow flecks glinted in his blond hair, and I couldn’t help brushing a fleck from his cheek. He was breathtaking.I held him closer as we swayed to the sound of Freddie Mercury and Queen; a cheer filled the room as the gay-angel’s voice sang out.
“Anybody find me...somebody to....love...”
As I looked at the man in my arms, I thought at that moment, maybe, just maybe I had found my someone.
CHAPTER 13
ROBBIE
The touch of raindropsfelt like heaven on my heated skin. The club’s bass still thudded in my chest as we spilled out into the cool night air.Soho was quieter now, the streets slick with rain, neon reflections shimmering like spilled paint.Tilting my head back, I looked into the cloud-filled sky and breathed in the silence after the chaos.A quick glance showed few signs of traffic, with few people about.Sighing, I turned back to look at Ashton.
“I didn’t realise how late it was.”
Pulling my phone from the back pocket of my jeans, I glanced at the train schedule glaring back at me.The last one had gone. The next one wouldn’t be until morning.
Ugh, fantastic.Biting back a groan.I turned to Ashton, a grimace on my face.
His bashful smile tugged at my heartstrings.“Guess London’s got you for the night.”
