“I’ll come get you for dinner,” I told her. “I need to tell you something.”
She didn’t respond. Instead, she pulled out of my grasp and got dressed before she left my room. Annoyed that I couldn’t make her see that it was going to be fine, I stomped out of my room and into church. I took my seat and slammed the door shut. Everyone looked at me, but no one said a damn thing.
Good.
“We’ve had word from Percy,” Ace said. “Neal’s been spotted in Monaco with the man he tried to sell Shauna to. We don’t know if he’s been held captive or not, but we don’t want this man in our business.”
“Neal needs to die,” Hawk spat. “Do we have any contacts who can get him to us?”
Ace looked to Viper, then to Fury and then me. I knew what that meant, but he’d never out me. It had to be on my terms, which was why I respected the fuck out ofour prez. “We do.”
“Spill it,” Bear said. “We need to know what to expect.”
“Fury, go and see Eamon. He has a longer reach than the O’Farrell’s, especially into Europe,” Ace ordered.
“Actually,” Viper sat up. “Lorcan might have a good vantage from this point. He’s one of the Onyx.”
Ace sighed. It surprised me that Lorcan was connected to the Onyx, but it was even more concerning that Prez knew about them too. Not many knew about the Onyx Society, and for good reason. They were fucking powerful, and not an enemy you wanted to have. I only knew because of who my biological father was and how he was connected to them.
“I don’t want to upset Eamon after only clearing up the trouble with them and the O’Farrell’s recently.”
“Lorcan was pissed off because he hadn’t been consulted. Killian cleared it up.”
We all turned to Fury. Learning that his brother in law was one of the Kings of Dublin, in fact he wasthe one they calledDia, had been mind blowing. I didn’t exactly want to mess with the Onyx. It had taken a lot for my mother to hide me away from my father, and I didn’t want to disgrace the memory of her by getting embroiled in it.
“If it’s all the same, prez,” I said. “I think Fury and Viper got this one.”
Ace frowned. “Are you declining to help us?”
“Not at all,” I said. “You said you needed help with Neal, and since he’s across the sea, I don’t see how we can help. I’ll keep the most trusted Nomads here, and we’ll send the rest back to Limerick to help with Valkyrie and what they need. I know you want to go over and fuck this guy up, Prez. Why not leave someone here that can look after shit that you trust?”
Ace didn’t look impressed, and I could see Hawk eyeing me suspiciously too. Had I already lost their respect after being gone for such a small amount of time already?
“Leave us,” Ace ordered. “‘Viper, Savage, stay.”
Fuck.
The boys filed out without another word, Bear closing the door behind him. Ace sighed, and leaned back in his seat.
“I know you two have some shaded history together, and I know you don’t talk about it but if this is something that’s going to affect us now, I need to know.”
Viper looked at me. “Just tell him. He’s not going to tell anyone else.”
“If it doesn’t impede us, your history will remain a secret, but I need to know why you’re so hesitant because it’s not like you, brother.”
There was no way out of this. I respected Ace too much not to give him the truth he was seeking. He knew I came from troubled stock, but he had no idea the level of shade. I didn’t even like to think about it but I knew secrets could be damaging, especially to our club.
“You know Viper and I were in an orphanage together, and it was less than pleasant,” I started. “Well, let’s just say I wasn’t exactly an orphan. My mother knew she was in danger, so she put me in theonly orphanage who wouldn’t ask questions to hide me from my father.”
Ace nodded for me to continue. “My father is a powerful man, a sick and twisted but powerful man. If he knew where I was, he would come and lure me to take his place beside him in whatever sick shit he is currently into.”
“Is he someone Neal would get involved with?”
“Most definitely. He’s someone who Percy would know, let’s leave it at that.”
“Fair enough. So why are you worried about dealing with the Onyx?”
“He’s the President of the Onyx,” I told him, hating that I’d had to air that out. I’d long since buried who I was after learning the truth. He’d gotten close over the years to finding me, but somehow I was always saved from him. He didn’t know this identity and I’d been safe as a Nomad, always running around, but I knew he’d caught my scent a few months ago. That was why I’d taken the position within the Nomads so readily.
