Denise’s face is so red she’s about to burst into flames. I think she’s finally reached her limit of old lady sex conversations. At least for one day.
“Alright Gran, we’re going to leave some things a mystery for now. Denise’s family might not be quite as open as ours. You can’t expect her to give you a report on my sexual performance just yet. Let’s save something for the next visit, yeah?”
“Oh fine, you big poop,” Gran pouts. Gladys is booing and giving me a thumbs down. “Denise, it was lovely to meet you today. Come back whenever you like. There are many, many more embarrassing stories about Ryder to tell you. I even have some old photos around here somewhere. I’ll dig them out before your next visit.”
“It was nice to meet you too, Gran. And you as well, Gladys. It’s been… interesting, to say the least.” Denise chuckles a little as she stands. “I can’t wait to come for another visit so I can hear those embarrassing stories about Ryder. He walks around so sure of himself. He could stand to be knocked down a peg or two.”
“Yeah, yeah. OK, let’s get moving. I can only take so much abuse. Even when it comes from the three most beautiful women I know.” I pick up Denise’s bag before she gets the chance. “Gran, Gladys. Until next time.”
I open the door and wait as Denise hugs Gran and Gladys. When she gets to me, I grab her hand in mine and lead her to the car.
Opening up the trunk, I pull out the Team Alex shirt I had made and forgot to wear to the party last night. I quickly pull it over my head and walk up to open the door for Denise.
“That’s what you were going to wear last night?” She bursts into laughter. “I think it’s a good thing you forgot.”
“You know, you’re right; it’ll have a much bigger impact at family dinner. Especially since I had one made for Devon too and forgot to give it to him yesterday.”
We’re both still laughing when we leave the parking lot of the retirement complex to head back toward town.
“So now what?” I ask. “It’s too early for dinner, but I thought we needed to get out of there. They had their pervert level cranked right up today. It was almost enough to make me blush. And you know how bad it normally has to be before that will happen.”
