Guess I’m dating a rock star now. Fuck.
“Yeah, you’re right. I’ll text you soon to let you know how the date goes.”
“Yeah, sure, girl. I fully expect not to hear from you until tomorrow. But then I want all the details. We’ll talk about all the amazing sex you’re having with the sexy rock star.” She’s still laughing as she hangs up without even saying goodbye. That bitch.
Becca is right. Going on some dates and getting to know Connor again is the best way to go about this. I can’t let myself be blinded by the feelings I used to have for him, though. His life has changed drastically since then, and he might be a completely different person. That thought terrifies me. This comes so soon after Derek’s betrayal that I probably shouldn’t even be considering it, but the chance to get to know Connor again is too tempting. And after all the coincidences that have been circling around us all these years, I have to admit that it’s piqued my curiosity. I can’t handle not knowing what this could be. I just hope I can handle whatever happens if it all falls apart.
Chapter 45
Connor - Jealousy and Friendship
I’m knocking on the pool house door just before seven o’clock. From somewhere in the house, I hear Alex yell for me to come in.
“Are you almost ready?” I yell up the stairs. “I made a dinner reservation for eight o’clock.”
“Yep, just five more minutes,” comes her answer.
I busy myself by having a look around at what she’s done with the place. In just a couple of days, she’s made it feel like her home. Too bad I’m planning to get her to live in the main house with me as soon as possible. But I have to admit she’s made this place her own. I see pictures of her and Mike, who I still can’t believe is her Pops, and some of her and Becca. She has a few vintage kitchen tools displayed as well, it looks like. She’s added some interesting themed cushions to the couch. I can’t say I’ve ever seen any that say ‘fuck this shit’ or ‘more coffee, less talky’ before. I like that she doesn’t seem to take things too seriously.
“Oh, you like those?” Alex catches me chuckling at her decor choice.
“Yeah, they’re kind of fun…” I turn around and my words fail me. Alex looks amazing. Her long, dark blonde hair is down and wavy. She’s wearing tight jeans, another of those off the shoulder shirts that shows off her tattoo, this one is a Rammstein shirt, and studded short stiletto boots. “Holy shit.”
“Is this ok?” She seems a little unsure of herself. “I didn’t know what you had planned, but I wasn’t expecting anything too fancy. I can run up and change if I need to.” She jerks a thumb behind her toward the stairs, showing her readiness to put on something else.
“NO!” I startle her with my loud answer. “You look so fucking hot. Perfect.” I lean in and kiss her. “I think maybe I need to go change so I can look like I belong with you.” I’m dressed casually tonight. Jeans, black tee, black combat boots, and my usual rings and bracelets. I’m way outclassed.
“Haha, very funny,” she says, looking at me with heat in her eyes. “You look sexy, as you’re well aware.”
I smile at her admission. “I look not bad. You look like we should skip dinner and stay in. I’m sure Denise doesn’t want to deal with the aftermath of me getting into fights trying to stop guys from asking you out right in front of me.” I step into her, shove my hand into her hair, and lean in for a kiss. She turns her head to give me access, allowing me to slowly explore her mouth with my tongue. Once she’s panting and grabbing my shirt to pull me closer, I let go of her hair and end the kiss. “But I said I was taking you out, and that’s what I intend to do. Let’s get going so we’re not late for our reservation.”
The look on her face promises all sorts of great fun to be had when we’re back later tonight. “Oh, that was mean,” she giggles at me. “I’m going to have to do something about that later.” She looks me up and down again and pulls her lip into her mouth. She reaches up and strokes my face as she leans into me to whisper in my ear. “It’s going to be so much fun.” she says, before grazing my earlobe with her teeth. She brushes the front of my jeans with her hand as she turns and walks to the door. “Come on, Connor. We don’t want to be late,” she calls out as she steps outside.
Fuck, I think I love this girl. I rearrange my now erect cock in my pants and follow behind her. I’m going to be hard all night if we keep this up. And part of me really hopes that we do. Alex is going to destroy me in all the best ways, and I can’t wait.

When we get to the restaurant, the hostess seats us immediately. I’m not disguised tonight, but I requested a table with a little of privacy to hopefully prevent too many interruptions.
“Excuse me?” Alex is getting the attention of the hostess before she goes back to seat more guests. “What is your executive chef’s name?”
“It’s Marcus Anderson, ma’am. He is very accomplished. He actually did his culinary training right here in town.” The hostess seems used to answering this question. I know why Alex would be curious, but I can’t understand why someone who isn’t in the industry would care.
“I thought so,” Alex smiles. “Can you ask him to come to our table when he has a moment? Tell him Alex Wilson is here.”
“I surely will, ma’am. I will tell him right away.” The hostess turns and makes her way to the kitchen.
“I take it you know the chef?”
“Yeah, we actually went through culinary school together. He’s a talented chef. And a really fun guy.” Alex is looking over the menu while she tells me about her history with Marcus. She seems to have spent a lot of time with him over the years, and I’m a little jealous.
“Sounds like he’s a good friend.” Jealousy drips from my words. Fuck.
“Yes.” she eyes me as she takes a sip of water. “I’m friends with his husband as well.”
I wish I could say that I wasn’t relieved at that statement, but I’d be lying if I did. And she can see it too. She actually laughs at me.
“Jealous of my friends?”
