She’d gone to bed a couple of hours ago, and the four of us were still sitting in the living room, staring blankly at nothing.

“Should we check on her?” Liam asked for the fourth time.

Henry ran his hand down his face. “Fuck, I don’t know. I just want to know what she’s thinking and how to help her.”

“She’s scared of being a burden,” I said. “She might think we don’t want to be her pack anymore since she’s not cured.”

“Why the fuck would that matter?” Bear snarled.

I held my hands up. “I know it doesn’t matter to us, but I don’t think she knows that.”

Bear stood. “I’m checking on her. I’m not going to let her believe that sort of bullshit. We’re her pack. If it was up to me, we would already be bonded.”

He stormed off to her room and the three of us followed, pulled by an invisible string towards our omega.

Except when Bear opened the bedroom door, our omega wasn’t inside.

My heart pounded in my chest, and I thought I might be sick. The window was open. I ran to it and peered out, but there was no sign of her.

“Shit,” I said, turning to the guys.

“Did someone take her?” Liam asked, looking out the window.

“Her roller skates are gone,” Henry said. “Fuck! Where did she go?” He was pacing the room like a caged animal.

“I’m calling her.” Bear held his phone to his ear. He cursed and hung up. “It went to voicemail.”

I pulled out my phone. “If she took her phone, I can track her location.”

The three of them stared at me.

“I added her phone tracking to mine when I was her bodyguard,” I said defensively. Nobody bothered to point out that I hadn’t been her bodyguard in a long time.

“Well, use it then,” Liam said, coming to stand beside me.

I opened the app and saw her little dot in the downtown area. I showed it to Henry and he zoomed in on the map.

“Fuck, that’s Triple X—a club,” he said.

“Let’s go,” I said, storming out of the bedroom.

The four ofus stood side by side on the club balcony, watching our omega on the dance floor. Bear and Liam were on either side of me, their growls loud enough to hear above the music.

My body also shook with rage, but it was more than that. As I watched Westin grinding on some asshole who had his hands on her hips—his hands onmyomega—I felt my heart break completely. To everyone else, she might seem happy and carefree, but I knew better. I wouldn’t be fooled by her mask anymore. My Westin was suffering, and I couldn’t stand it.

“Let me go down first.” I put my hand on Bear’s chest to stop him from charging down to the dance floor.

The three of them stared at me.

“Just trust me.” I wasn’t sure if my words were a command or a plea.

Henry ran his hand through his hair. “Fine, but fucking hurry. They’re like sharks around her.”

I made my way to the dance floor, pushing through throngs of irritated clubgoers. I didn’t care about them. I cared about my girl. Her silver hair was a beacon for me to follow, and it wasn’t long before I was in front of her. I snagged her hips, and she tilted her head back to meet my gaze. I didn’t know what she saw there, but she quickly looked away.

The music pulsed and bodies moved around us, but for me, there was only her.

I pulled her close to protect her from the crowd, and a wave of relief washed through me as she wrapped her arms around my neck.
