“She’s not getting any better,” I said, looking up at Liam.

I sat on the bed with Westin bundled in my arms. Her hands clenched in tight fists around her favorite blanket, the hedgehog stuffed animal in the crook of her arm.

“I’m fine,” she whispered, but the tightness in her face gave her away.

Her pain initially seemed to ease a bit in the bath, but things had gotten worse in the hours since.

“She’s maxed out on the pain meds,” Liam said, brushing Westin’s hair out of her face.

“What else can we do for her?” Gray asked through clenched teeth, his eyes fixed on our omega.

Henry paced the room while staring at his phone, as if it held the answers we needed. “What about the emergency room?”

“No hospital,” Westin said with a whimper, pressing her face into my neck.

I wouldn’t hesitate to take her there if we had to, even if she’d hate me for it, but I had another idea. “Have you ever tried pot for your symptoms, baby?”

“What?” Henry choked, but I ignored him.

“Haven’t had it in ages,” Westin said.

“Liam, take her for a minute and then meet me out on the patio,” I said.

I pulled a bag of weed from my jeans pocket.

“Where did you get that?” Henry asked, coming closer.

“Got it tonight. Thought it could help her, just didn’t think she would need it so soon.” I couldn’t stop from thinking I had brought these symptoms on by being too rough with her. Sex in a fair alley? What the fuck was I thinking?

“But it’s illegal,” Henry said, running his hand through his hair.

“What are you, a cop?” I asked.

“A lawyer,” he muttered.

“Don’t worry, it won’t hurt her,” Liam said.

“Can’t be worse than the cocaine,” Westin said.

“What cocaine?” Henry asked, whirling towards our omega.

I couldn’t stop my snort of laughter when I saw Westin hide her smile in Liam’s chest. She was intentionally riling Henry.

“You’ve done cocaine?” the beta asked, drawing close to her.

“Not the time, Henry,” I huffed.

I moved to the kitchen and rolled a joint before heading out onto the patio. Liam was there a few seconds later with Westin in his arms.

I sat in one of the plush armchairs and held my arms out. “Give her to me.” Liam reluctantly let her go, tucking the blanket around her to shield her from the slight chill in the night air. I nodded at the lighter and he lit the joint.

“Here you go, baby,” I said, holding it to Westin’s lips. “Don’t breathe in too much or you’ll—” I stopped talking as Westin took a long drag before breathing it out slowly. She cuddled back into my chest without coughing.

Liam snorted. “Not your first time, sweet girl?”

“Haven’t had the money for it in ages, but I used to smoke when I was younger.”

“Of course you did,” I said with a grin. “Our adventurous little omega.”
