From past memory, when he was stabbed or cut with the knife, he couldn't even lift his head. Putting the oddity to the side, Uriel felt Blue Lennox's soft curls and wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not.
My powers are weak, so how come I didn't shift into my regular self?
If the media got wind of Blue being in the hospital for being injured, it would defeat the purpose of him doubling for Blue Lennox. And since he was alone, that meant one of two things: Uriel's friends were busy putting out fires or they didn't know he was hurt. But one thing he was thankful for was that he could move his limbs.
Maybe I can leave before things get too bad.Uriel threw the covers back and went to get out of bed but noticed his legs wouldn't move.Fuck, I guess I won't be going anywhere anytime soon.Uriel sighed and leaned back on the pillows.I have to get out of here.
Uriel grabbed his phone and cursed at the cracked screen. Turning it on, he was happy that it still worked, even if he couldn't read the screen properly. Seeing the hundreds of text messages, it was evident that word had gotten out of Blue being in the hospital. Ignoring them for now, Uriel found Synder's number and called him.
"Hey, you're awake," Synder said when he answered, and Uriel could hear the relief in his voice.
"Yeah," Uriel answered, in a hoarse voice. "So I take it the media knows I'm in the hospital?"
"Yeah, but they're in the dark like the rest of us. Sit tight and let me and Kayne clean up this mess, then we'll come and see you."
"Fuck." Uriel hated that he couldn't be the one to control the situation. He felt as if this was his fault; he’d grown complacent since getting back with Azazel. “Do you have any idea who found me and got me to the hospital?”
“It was some good Samaritan, but we haven’t been able to track them down. It’s like he disappeared,” Synder explained.
Uriel sighed, then recalled seeing Micha before he passed out.Could it have been him who got me to the hospital?
“Syn, my healing powers have been immobilized for the next few hours, and I’m pretty weak right now. I can’t get out of here to clean up this mess. How long have I been out?”
“By our estimation, you’ve been out for about four hours. I can’t understand what happened. I didn’t think you could get hurt by human means. Unless it was an angel or a god that did this?”
“No, it was a human, but the weapon was made by an angel.”
“What?! Tell me what happened.”
Uriel explained briefly about getting stabbed in the back by a knife that was made by Gadriel and had been used on him a few times in the past, but he wasn’t sure how it ended up in Benito's assassin’s hands.
“All right,” Synder sighed. “I need to get back to the meeting. I don’t want Azazel to get suspicious about why I’m gone so long. Man, that dude is really grumpy right now. I think he’s mad that his show won’t get started tomorrow like he planned.”
Uriel’s eyes widened. “You’re in a meeting with Azazel right now?”
“Yeah, he called us to put security on you the second he got the news that you were in the hospital. Since he hired our company, he wants to put a security detail on his current main star. If we weren’t already protecting Blue I’d have rolled my eyes like fifty times in the meeting with how much he’s yelling at everyone.”
Uriel smiled. “Syn, Azazel knows I’m Blue Lennox, and that I work with you guys. We’re kind of back together.”
“Fuck, no wonder he’s been giving me and Kayne stink-eyes. Okay, let me see if we can clean things up here quickly and we’ll come to see you. We have Trader, Rhymer, Sanders, and Diamond watching the door so no one can come in and see you without mine, Kayne, or Azazel’s permission. I’ll send them a message letting them know you’re awake and to listen out for your call.”
Four guards, really, Synder? Why so many?
“Okay, I’ll stay put, but what about everything else? Do Blue and Khray know about me being here?”
“They do, and I told them not to worry. Khray felt a little bad since he was the last one to see you.”
“There’s nothing for him to be sorry for. I wasn’t paying attention to my surroundings. I’ll go and see Blue when I get better. Is he still at the safe house?”
“Don’t worry about it. To be on the safe side, we moved him and Khray to Vale Valley to stay at Rosemary and Odin’s place,” Synder told him.
Uriel hummed, closing his eyes. It wasn't that Blue hadn't been safe where the company had hidden him, but in Vale Valley, Benito LaCava wouldn’t be able to find him, unless the town allowed him to. Uriel opened his eyes as he asked the next question. “Where’s Orion?”
“He’s still watching Benito. Trust me, we had to convince him to stay put. He wanted to come and see you, but we still need him to find evidence that Benito killed Blue’s family.”
“Okay. So who’s watching Kristoph? He was spending time with Azazel.”
“I don’t know, but I can find out from Azazel when I go back to the conference room.”
