Azazel put the clothes on the bed and sat next to Uriel. “You don’t have to worry about that. I will protect both your identities.”
“Okay, you can pick him up from the high school at six. If you get there early, you can watch practice. I should be home no later than ten. Orion will be gone for a few days, so if you want to stay the night I won’t mind.” Uriel stood and started to get dressed. “Kristoph doesn’t have many rules, since he’s a good kid.”
“Or is it because you’re a helicopter parent?”
“I’m really not that bad. So what if I have a tracking spell on him? I just want to keep him safe.”
Azazel stood and helped Uriel button his shirt. “You’re a parent. I hear that’s what you’re supposed to do. One question—well, two.”
“Okay.”
“He’s ten and enrolled in high school?”
“If it were up to him, Kristoph would be in college.” Uriel chuckled. “I gave him permission to test into high school.”
“Oh,” Azazel said with a smile. “My son is a genius.”
“Yes, be proud of that. Anyway, what’s your next question?”
“Who's Benito and why is Orion keeping track of him?”
“Az, I can’t talk about work stuff with you yet.”
“Fuck, you realize this is going to be a problem between us, right?”
Uriel nodded. “I value my client’s privacy, and although Kristoph knows about my job I didn’t tell him I’m doubling as Blue Lennox.” Uriel finished dressing and looked at Azazel. “I’ll talk to Kayne and Synder about letting you in on the know. Or you could become one of our investors. We’ve been looking for a silent investor to branch out into other states.”
Azazel smiled. “Let me think about it.”
“Okay. All right.” Uriel picked up his cellphone and looked at the time, cursing. He was about to send Yoko a text message that he was going to be late when he saw that someone did that for him already. He was not being professional at the moment.Shit, I get a little loving and can’t fucking concentrate.“Let me get your phone.”
“Why?” Azazel furrowed his brows, looking at him suspiciously.
Uriel raised a brow. “So you’re allowed to look through my phone, but I can’t look through yours?”
“I only sent that assistant a message.” Azazel handed Uriel his cellphone, and Uriel quickly entered Kristoph’s number into his contacts. “Okay, you have Kristoph’s number. I’m not sure how he didn’t give it to you already.”
“We didn’t have time to go into details.”
“Well, you will tonight. Okay, I gotta go. I can’t believe that my five-star bodyguard rating has dropped so low in only twenty-four hours.”
“Wait.” Before Uriel could transport away, Azazel grabbed him around the waist. “Who are you having dinner with?”
“Blue Lennox's agent, and your best buddy Jason Dagon.” Uriel tried to keep the contempt out of his voice when he said the dark angel’s name.
Azazel nodded. “All right, I’ll see you tonight. I’ll have someone waiting for you at the entrance of the studio to take you to your destination.”
“Thank you,” Uriel said.
They kissed and Uriel stepped back and shifted into Blue Lennox before he disappeared, then appeared in a dark alley not far from the studio. He then hurried over to the entrance where there was a car waiting for him.
It took less than fifteen minutes to get to Studio G, and he was not surprised to see a very unhappy Yoko waiting outside for him. There was also a line of guests waiting to get inside, screaming when they saw him. Uriel smiled and waved and went over to take a couple of selfies before facing Yoko.
“You’re late,” Yoko angrily whispered.
“I know… I know,” Uriel said. “Something came up. Anyway, do you have a script for tonight?”
“Yes, it’s right here.” She handed it to him, and Uriel looked through it as he started walking into the building. “Let’s meet the host and then get ready.”
