Azazel couldn’t believe he was jealous of the food he’d painstakingly bought and brought back for his lover. Seeing that he was not going to be given any attention, Azazel dived into the salad he got for himself. Not long after his third or fourth bite, Azazel looked up when he heard Uriel sighing and patting his stomach in satisfaction.
“Ah, that hit the spot,” Uriel said. “Thank you.”
Azazel’s jealousy waned a bit and he smiled. “No problem.”
“So,” Uriel said, cleaning off his hands and mouth. “Are we going to talk about everything now or do you want to wait?”
Azazel wanted to know everything that had happened after Uriel left him so many years ago, but he doubted they had enough time to delve into a deep conversation since they only had one hour.
“I don’t think we have time for that conversation,” Azazel told him.
“I agree, then what do you want to talk about?”
“Kristoph,” Azazel said. He wanted to get to know his son, but first he wanted to learn a few things about the kid. “He told me that he and Donald are twins, so why is he so young?”
Uriel sighed. “Because I had no choice at that time.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“It’s a long story, but let me see if I can give you the abridged version. Dio thought I was having one child, but on the day I gave birth, it was twins. Wanting to protect them both, I put them in a magical coma soon after they were born. I had no intention of breaking up our little family, but it happened anyway.” Uriel paused and looked at him. “The day I left you and returned to Dio, he was disappointed that I had failed to kill you and angry that I’d fallen in love with you and gotten pregnant. Dio told me that in order for him to forgive me, I had to give up my child for adoption.”
Azazel clenched his hand in a fist hearing that, but he didn’t interrupt Uriel. He wanted to know as much as he could before he went back to the heavenly realms and beat the shit out of his father.
“Of course I disagreed and begged him not to do it. I even offered up my life service just so I could keep my child. He knew my weakness and used it against me, giving me the only option to agree. But I never planned on following through with the agreement. I figured after I had my baby, I could run away.”
Uriel’s eyes grew sad, and Azazel reached out and took his hand in comfort.
“Anyway, I was able to get Kristoph to safety. I begged Sagittarius Bloodmoon, the leader of the unicorn and hippocentaur to take both boys in, but he refused, and it was absolute luck that Orion volunteered to watch over Kristoph. Once one child was safe, I was on my way to do the same with Donald when Dio caught me and ripped him from my arms.”
Knowing there was more to the story, Azazel’s anger boiled within him, trying to imagine what Uriel went through. Azazel knew that his father was a bastard, but he hadn't expected their war and hatred for each other would lead to the separation of his family.
This is partly my fault. I didn’t think far ahead in order to protect them.
“Why didn’t you come to me?” Azazel asked, trying to keep the anger and disappointment out of his voice. “No matter what you thought I did, I would have protected you and our children.”
“Truthfully, I couldn’t trust you,” Uriel said, looking him in the eyes. “At the time, all I cared about was getting my children away from you and your father. For years you two went back and forth, started a war between the realms that killed so many people, and you expect me to have trusted you with my newborn children? Your father forced me to give up my child, and I was supposed to run to the man who fucked someone else on the day I found out I was carrying his child?” Uriel pulled away his hand, then carded his fingers through his hair. “I know I made a lot of mistakes, but thinking of you with another man made me lose faith in you.”
Azazel lowered his eyes, letting Uriel’s words cut through him like a knife. He knew their relationship wasn’t perfect back then, but he'd always been certain that Uriel was his one and only mate. He knew that Uriel was strong-willed, yet he didn’t show it much when they were together, leaving Azazel to be the one to fix everything. He'd taken pride in being Uriel’s savior, and to lose that in a blink of an eye because of a misunderstanding really hurt. He’d thought about a lot of things since their altercation in the arena, and Azazel realized his one genuine regret was not claiming Uriel as his mate. Fuck, he should have said the words out loud instead of holding back.
“I never wanted that to happen,” Azazel said, looking up at him.
Uriel nodded. “I know. Like I said, I made mistakes, and there are a lot of things I regret, but what I went through opened my eyes up to reality and made me realize I wasn’t as strong as I thought.”
Uriel picked up his glass of water and drank it down. Azazel couldn’t stop his eyes from trailing down to his Adam’s apple, as his mind was filled with naughty thoughts that were not conducive to their conversation. As much as he tried to banish the thoughts, he couldn’t wait to feel Uriel’s lips wrapped around his cock, swallowing down his cum. It had been so long since they’d been together; he was greedy for Uriel’s sweet touch and caress.
“I gained my independence,” Uriel said, setting his glass down.
Hearing Uriel’s voice made Azazel’s cock throb with need and made him forget what they were talking about.
“What?” Azazel said, looking at Uriel, who was glaring at him.
Fuck, I’m an asshole.
“You weren’t listening to me,” Uriel scowled.
“Yes, I was. I heard what you said,” Azazel defended.
Uriel leaned closer to him, resting his chin on his palm and peering at Azazel with interest. “Then tell me what I said.”
