“Thanks.” Uriel went into the trailer Azazel ordered specially for the cast, shifted, and teleported to his lover’s office and found it empty, figuring his mate was in a meeting.
Azazel no longer worked out of both the city hall and Valleywood Studios offices. Instead, he transferred his entire city hall department to Valleywood Studios, leaving city hall to Loki. True to his word, Loki got serious about improving the quality of magic in Valleywood. Uriel had never seen Loki so focused, unless he was hatching a plan to disrupt someone’s life.
Uriel pulled out his cellphone when it vibrated, signaling that he had a text, and furrowed his brows when he saw an unfamiliar number, but it was the message that caught his attention.
Please, make time to meet with me in two days. -Dio.
“Huh, he was serious about talking to us,” Uriel mumbled and sent back a quick reply of acceptance before putting his phone away.
“Tanner, find out what time…” Azazel walked into his office with his assistant next to him and stopped walking and speaking when he saw Uriel waiting for him.
“How long do you have?”
“An hour, give or take,” Uriel said.
“Tanner, hold all of my calls for the next hour,” Azazel ordered.
“But, sir, you have a meeting with the—”
“Leave, Tanner,” Azazel said.
Tanner lowered his eyes, and Uriel saw the tightening of his lips and clenched fist and knew that the assistant was unhappy. However, he didn’t argue any further with Azazel and walked out, slamming the door. Uriel had met Tanner a couple of weeks ago when he invited Azazel to lunch. Tanner wasn’t happy to see him since he didn’t have an appointment, and he was more disappointed when Azazel informed the assistant they were married.
“What a jealous little thing,” Uriel tsked.
“I can fire him, if you want.” Azazel stepped closer to him.
“No, you like him. He’s efficient, and his crush will fade. I suspect he will be meeting someone soon who will sweep him off his feet, and you will be a simple memory of his past.”
Azazel narrowed his eyes and looked at Uriel. “What did you do?”
“Moi? Nothing at all. However, what am I supposed to do when two bear shifters happen to see the cute little Tanner and think he is their mate?”
“And how did the bear shifters happen to see Tanner?”
“Now you sound like a protective father. Should our sons be jealous?”
Azazel sighed. “Fine, I won’t ask any more questions on the matter.” He wrapped his arms around Uriel. “How about we do something more productive with the time we have?”
Uriel leaned up and kissed him. “Now that’s the question you should be asking."
* * *
A couple of days later,Uriel was sitting in one of Mama Vee’s private rooms with Azazel, waiting for Dio to arrive.
“I don’t think he’s going to show up,” Azazel said. “We should go. He’s late and I have a shit ton of work to do.”
“He’s only one minute late.”
Uriel looked at Azazel, wondering why he was in a rush. Uriel studied Azazel a bit more, and if he wasn’t mistaken, his mate seemed nervous. Uriel pressed a finger to his lips to stop himself from laughing at his big, strong, demanding lover who never backed down from a fight. A snort escaped, and Azazel looked at Uriel.
“What’s wrong with you?” Azazel asked.
“Nothing,” he answered quickly. “But I was just wondering about something. Are you nervous?”
Azazel’s brows creased. “About what?”
“Oh, I don’t know, talking to your father, maybe? You seem a bit on edge.”
