Fox walked slowly towards his target who was running across the rooftop. He didn’t need to rush, he’d never failed in capturing his targets. He was the best hitman in the business and didn’t come cheap.

His target was the well-known mob boss Anthony DePrivia who was in a turf war with three other figureheads. However, Fox hadn’t been hired by any of the other mob bosses.

He’d been hired by DePrivia’s wife who was fine with her husband’s cheating, but got angry when she found out he’d gotten her beloved brother killed. Fox never cared about the sob stories of the people who hired him. As long as they paid him for his time, that was all that mattered to him.

Anthony DePrivia stopped running when he realized he had nowhere to go and turned to face Fox. They were one hundred floors up of the Wedegar Tower, and he knew DePrivia wasn’t going to jump. The man was a coward without his bodyguards.

“Who paid you to kill me?” DePrivia asked. “Was it that bastard Caster? He’s been after my turf for a long time.”

Fox didn’t respond—moving closer to DePriva with his gun raised.

“Don’t kill me, please. I’ll...I’ll double...no...triple what they paid you. Better yet why don’t you come work for me? I could use a man with your skillset. You’ll make more money working for me.”

Fox smiled. “No thank you. I work alone.”

Fox was about to pull the trigger but stepped aside when he heard a sound whiz by his ear. Alerted, he looked around trying to figure out what the hell just happened. He knew it was a bullet, but he couldn’t figure out what direction it had come from.

Fox smiled realizing someone was trying to kill him. A slight chill coursed down his spine at the new challenge. DePrivia saw Fox was distracted and started running to get away from him. Fox, however, knew how to walk and chew gum at the same time. He aimed his gun at his target and shot DePrivia in his back, watching as he fell forward, just as another bullet came at him. This time, Fox shifted a bit letting the bullet graze his shoulder. He knew he wasn’t going to be hurt since the clothes he was wearing were specially made and were bulletproof. He dropped to the floor, pretending he was shot.

Fox slowly crawled over to the wall and looked over the edge scanning the other buildings, looking for any sign as to who had become his new target. He smiled in delight when he saw a flash three buildings to his right.

“Got you,” Fox said, pulling out his burner phone and calling the only contact listed. “It’s done.”

He hung up before the other person could say anything. Standing, he dropped the phone to the ground, smashing it to pieces. With that done, Fox left the rooftop in search of his new target. He’d estimated the person would think he was dead and was coming to look for themselves. Fox hid behind the door and waited patiently for his killer to show up. He was startled when he saw a black cat with bright blue eyes skittered out from behind him and ran over his foot, disappearing into the still of the night. Fucking cat.

Ten minutes later, the door opened, and Fox saw the barrel of a silencer attached to a sniper rifle. A large body dressed in all black walked onto the roof taking cautious steps. Fox couldn’t see his face since it was dark, and the man was wearing a black ball cap and a mask over his mouth—covering the majority of his face. However, his physique was just the kind of bed partner he liked. Long legs leading to an enticing ass with broad muscled shoulders.

Too bad you’re trying to kill me or I’d let you fuck me.

“I know you’re not dead, Fox Mahamari. You’re too good to be killed so easily. So come out and face me.”

“You’re a terrible shot, but not as dumb as you look.” Fox moved from the hiding spot with his gun raised at the other man’s back.

The man turned quickly hearing Fox’s voice giving him a chance to see his new target’s eyes. Green—so bright they seemed to glow. Fox had been so drawn to the man’s eyes he hadn’t realized what was happening until it was too late. He felt a burning in his chest, and his body was falling backwards.

Damn, I didn’t see that coming.

Fox sat up gasping and touched his chest, feeling a slight burn. Taking deep breaths as he calmed his body down, he lifted the covers and realized he had an erection.

“What the fuck? Why did I have such a weird dream? And who the fuck gets an erection when they get killed in a dream?”

Shrugging his shoulders, Fox got out of bed. Fox walked into the other room to check on Genesis who was now sleeping in her own room, but she wasn’t too far from him. He’d taken over the guest bedroom, making the other part of the house his. Leaning down, he kissed Genesis on her chubby cheeks then walked out of the room and got back to bed. He was still sleepy and had another hour of sleep left before Genesis woke up for her next feeding. He grabbed his pillow squeezing as a smile graced his lips. He closed his eyes, falling back to sleep as thoughts of Alistaire and their date came to him.

I can’t wait for the next one.

Alistaire hummed, entering the kitchen, ignoring everyone sitting at the breakfast table. He was in a good mood and wasn’t surprised to see the entire Vale clan seated at the large breakfast table pretending they were eating. They all knew he’d had a date with Crevan the night before, and he could only imagine the hot gossip they’d spread among themselves.

The night he and Crevan shared their first kiss, he’d completely forgotten his parents were still in the room and was grateful they’d quietly left since he wasn’t paying attention. Alistaire opened the fridge and grabbed a greek yogurt before moving over the counter and fixed himself a cup of coffee to go.

“He’s humming, so that’s a good thing,” he heard Monique whisper.

“I wonder who made the first move?” Sirius said. “Fox is kind of a wild card. I can never tell what that guy’s thinking.”

“I’m going to say Fox,” Rosemary added.

“What if it was Alistaire?” Alphonso said.
