“I can fix that,” Scott said in a low whisper.
“How?” Quintus asked.
Scott went to speak but paused when Erica came over to their table.
“Hey, strangers. I haven’t seen either of you guys in a while.”
“Hey beautiful,” Scott said, getting up and hugging his friend. “How are you?”
“I’m doing good, how are you?” she asked, touching his cheek.
He gently touched her hand on his cheek. “I’m good.”
“I can tell. It’s been a while since I’ve heard you laugh like that,” she said to him.
“Tell me you and Chance haven’t been sitting around gossiping about me?”
Erica was best friends with both Scott and Chance. She knew about his history with Alec’s death, but not about his family and how powerful they were.
“Hell no. I haven’t spoken to him since the triplets’ christening.”
“Good,” he said, sitting back down.
Quintus stood, greeting her with a kiss her on the cheek and then sat back down.
“So, what can I get you guys to drink?”
“I’ll have a vanilla milkshake,” Quintus said.
Erica gave Quintus a weird look, and Scott wondered why.
“Okay. Who are you, and what have you done to my friend Quintus?”
“What? Why are you looking at me like that?”
“You never drink something that doesn’t have some health benefit to it.”
“You’re using milk to make it, right? And it does a body good, right?”
Scott eyed Quintus and had to agree milk really did his body good.Real good.
“So, they tell me,” Erica said. “What about you, Scott?”
“I’ll have a cup of coffee,” he told her.
“Coming right up,” she said. “Now you two can go back to what you were talking about.”
She walked away, and Scott chuckled as he turned his attention back to Quintus, remembering what they were talking about before Erica came over and interrupted them.
“So, would you like to see a playroom?”
“Where?”
Scott smirked and leaned closer to Quintus. “My place, tonight. I’ll show it to you after dinner. I’ll feed you, then I’ll have my wicked way with you.”
Quintus licked his lips and leaned closer, so they were almost touching. “You know if you wanted me to come to your place you don’t need tricks.”
“Really?” Scott quirked an eyebrow. “What do I need to then?”
