I hate those fucking things!
Closing his eyes, Scott stepped back, allowing the other man to take his phone call. He was annoyed that they were interrupted, but also thought it was for the best. He still had the urge of wanting to devour Quintus due to their kiss earlier.
“Answer it,” he ordered. He sounded angry and hoped Quintus didn’t notice.
Nodding, Quintus pulled his phone out of his pocket. He looked at the screen and creased his brows.
“Sareena, is everything okay?”
Scott purposely didn’t listen in on their conversation and kept watching Quintus’s body language, which went from concerned to something else he couldn’t describe in less than a second.
“All right. Stay where you are, I’ll be right there.” He hung up the phone and looked at Scott. “I have to go. Can we finish this tomorrow?”
“Of course,” Scott responded. “Go on and see about your sister.”
“I’m really sorry.”
“Don’t apologize. We’ll figure this out later.”
“Thanks for understanding,” he said, and then he was gone. Scott flipped the pizza box closed and then leaned against the counter.
“What did Fenrir mean it was something I would need to figure out for myself? Nothing is making sense.”
Do I enjoy teasing him because he’s a submissive and doesn’t know it yet, or is it something else?
“Fuck, why the hell am I so hung up on him? It’s not like I’ve never seen him before. But I’ve never kissed him or held him in my arms, either.”
Dammit.
Shaking his head, he didn’t think about it anymore. Instead, he thought about Quintus, wanting him to kiss him again and the look and desire in his eyes.
“Fuck, he is a delectable kitty and would make a good mate.”
Mate.He snorted and ran his fingers through his hair. His fingers stopped at the base of his neck and froze when he recalled that he’d tried to bite Quintus without a thought.
“Oh, fuck. Could he be?” he said disbelieving. “Nah. If he was, I would have known by now.”
But what if he is?Nagged the voice in the back of his head.Go to him and find out. The voice whispered again.
He would have probably gone after Quintus if the voice didn’t sound a lot like his bearer.
Chapter Seven
Quintus raced to the gazebo at the park and saw Sareena pacing the length of the small space.
“Reena, what’s wrong?” Quintus said, running up the stairs of the gazebo.
Sareena ran over to him the second she saw him. Quintus was the closestto Sareena out of his three sisters but loved them all for their uniqueness. Miya was creative and outspoken, and Ariana was shy but had a calming nature. Sareena had a bit of both qualities but wasn’t afraid to go after what she wanted.
At times, Quintus thought she was more mature for her age but holding her in his arms, she felt like a baby who was lost and confused. After her frantic call, he’d gone through so many scenarios as to whatthe problem was on his hasty drive over. Like a boy broke her heart and he was going to have to beat the shit out of a high school kid, but nothing prepared him for what came out of her mouth.
“I…” she paused, crying, unable to get the words out.
“It’s okay, tell me when you’re ready.”
“No,” she said, stepping back from his embrace. “I need to get this done and over with.”
“All right,” he said leading her over to the bench in the gazebo. “I’m listening.”
