“Come on, I’ll show you to the extra bedroom if you want, you can take a shower.”
“Yeah, that might be better.”
After showing him the extra room, Creed went and got his sea bag from the car he rented. He quickly undressed then got under the spraying water, taking a few minutes to let the heated spraying relax his muscles. He rushed through his shower. He was eager to hold his nephew in his arms. Once he was dressed, he went back into the baby’s bedroom and stood there for a few minutes looking down at Connor before picking him up, careful not to wake him. Seeing the rocking chair over by the window he took the short steps and sat down cuddling Connor in his arms.
“Hey, little man, I’m your uncle Creed.” He swallowed a few times holding back his tears. “I’m sorry it took me so long to get here, but I’m not going anywhere. It’s you and me now, kiddo. I’m not good at this parenting thing, so I’m at a loss at what I’m supposed to do next.”
Connor stirred a bit but stayed asleep. Creed held the baby a bit more simply staring at him, and couldn’t stop thinking of how much he looked like Richard. After a few minutes, he got up and placed Connor back in his crib and walked out of the bedroom. The scent of fresh coffee reached his nose, and he figured that the omega was in the kitchen.
Noticing the pictures on the wall, Creed stopped and stared at the smiling couple on the wall. It was of Richard and the woman he assumed was his mate. His older brother looked happy, and Creed wished he could have met his sister-in-law. He noted that there were a lot of pictures of Richard and Caroline on the walls with the omega in a few of them.
“You were supposed to be here when I got out of the Navy, big bro. How am I supposed to celebrate now with you being gone?”
Closing his eyes Creed pushed down his emotions. He was hurt and felt guilty for being angry at the situation. The sound of glass breaking accompanied by loud cursing had him snap his eyes open, and he rushed down the stairs. He stopped at the kitchen threshold when he heard the omega cursing him to high heaven.
