Winter was shocked and wanted to know how Creed picked it up when he didn’t tell him.
“How did you guess?”
“Body language,” Creed answered. He sat up and lightly grabbed his chin. “As you can tell, I don’t like to share. I’m very possessive, and now that you’re mine, I want everyone to know it. So, anyone you slept with in your past is just that, the past.”
Winter pushed him on his back and crawled on top of him, sitting his ass on Creed’s cock. “As long your past stays in the past as well.”
Creed smiled, and Winter was drawn to his dimples. “I’m all yours.”
“You better be.” Winter leaned down, kissing him.
* * *
Creed creasedhis brows together as he looked down at Connor who was sucking on his pacifier, then the thing in his hand. He wasn’t sure how he was going to explain to Winter that he somehow broke their nephew. If it was the middle of the night, he could blame it on being tired and unfocused. But it was the middle of the day, and he’d somehow talked his mate into taking some time for himself while he looked after Connor.
Winter had been hesitant at first until Creed told him that he had to trust him with Connor sometime. Winter had fed and changed Connor before he left. That was a couple of hours ago. Creed had a feeling that Winter was sitting in his car parked around the corner waiting for him to call and tell him that he fucked up. And in some ways, he might have.
“He’s not crying or seeming to be in pain, so I guess that’s a good thing.” He checked Connor over one more time. “He’s not bleeding. So how the hell did this come off?” He stared at the thing in his hand trying to figure out what happened.
Fuck, Winter is going to kill me.
He looked up from Connor when he heard the front door closing. Creed prayed his mate wouldn’t overreact. “Okay, Connor, let’s hope he doesn’t freak out about this.” Creed finished getting the baby dressed and then picked him up, heading down the stairs to face his mate.
“Hey,” Winter said, smiling when he saw Creed and Connor.
“Hey, yourself. Where did you go?”
Winter leaned closer to him and kissed Connor on his forehead, then him on his lips. “I went to the coffee shop around the corner. I’d thought about going to the gym, but I didn’t feel up to it.”
“That’s good,” he said to his mate. “So, I have something to tell you.”
“What did you do?”
Before Creed could explain, Winter took Connor out of his arms and rushed over to the couch, then laid him down gently. He took off his sleep pants and socks counting his toes. He touched Connor’s cheeks, turned his head gently looking him over, not seeing anything. Winter took off Connor’s baby cap, picked him up, and checked his head then kissed him before putting him back down on the couch.
“I don’t see anything wrong with him,” he said looking up at Creed.
“This thing fell off.” Creed held up the stump that fell off his belly button.
Winter stared at it for a few seconds then smiled and then down at Connor. “You’re getting so big. I can’t believe it’s already time to give you your first bath.”
“Wait, what?” Creed was confused. “You’re not mad?”
“Mad? Why should I be? Did you do something that I need to know about?”
“No,” Creed answered, relieved but still a bit confused. “You’re telling me this thing was supposed to fall off?”
“Yup, and the doctor advised that I should wait until his stump fell off before giving Connor his first real bath. Plus, I’ve been reading a ton of baby books.”
“So, he hasn’t taken a bath this entire time?”
“Don’t be silly, of course he has. I’ve been giving him sponge baths.”
I wish you would give me a sponge bath. Wait, am I jealous of Connor?
“I wish you’d told me you were waiting for it to fall off, I kept thinking I broke the kid.” Winter chuckled, but he wasn’t looking at Creed. “Are you laughing at me?”
“Nope,” he answered then cleared his throat. Creed could tell that he was lying.
