“Is everything all right with your client?”
“Not really, he said he needed a place to hide out for a few days. I’m going to get him a room here at the Inn then charter a plane to pick him up and get him here.”
“Sounds like you’ll be busy for a couple of hours.”
“Not really, but before I do all that, tell me what you wanted to say before the phone rang.”
“It’s nothing,” he said averting his eyes, his scent changed, letting him know his mate was lying to him.
“When are you going to learn to fucking trust me?” Alphonso snapped.
“What?” Sirius said looking at him.
“I said when are you going to learn to trust me?”
“I do trust you,” Sirius said to him.
“Yeah, so tell me what’s bothering you.”
“I told you it’s nothing.” Once again, he averted his eyes.
“Did you forget that I can tell when you’re lying to me?”
“I’m…”
“Don’t fucking deny it,” he said and stepped back. “Maybe you’re right, and we need some time apart to think things through.” He went to walk away, but Sirius’ words stopped.
“I’m pregnant, you asshole.”
“What?” Alphonso gasped in surprised.
“I said I’m pregnant. I’ve been trying to figure out how to tell you and deal with the emotions inside of me, but you wouldn’t give me time to sort through it.”
“You’re pregnant,” Alphonso said. “With a baby, my baby.”
“Who else would it be?”
“You know what I mean,” Alphonso said to him.
“I know, it’s just I wanted to sort through my feelings before I told you. And all I did tonight was pick a fight with you and made you think I didn’t trust you.”
“I am an ass for jumping to conclusions. Come here,” Alphonso said opening his arms.
Sirius didn’t fight him and rushed to him. All Alphonso wanted was to hold his mate and calm his fears, but he wasn’t sure how to do that. They’d talked about kids and later adopting, but it was all put into a box to be opened later in the future. Alphonso knew he was falling in love with Sirius, he yearned to be by his side constantly and couldn’t see his life without the man in it.
“It’s going to be all right. I hope you know that? I’m not going anywhere. We are in this together.”
“Can we keep this between us for a bit?” Sirius asked him. “I just need time.”
“You can have all the time you want,” Alphonso told him.
“I can’t believe it. I’m pregnant.”
“Yeah you are,” Alphonso said smiling. “We’re having a baby.”
Sirius raised his head and looked at him with a smile on his face that reached his eyes. “Yeah, we are. I’m still scared as hell.”
“We’re going to be fine, I promise.”
