Chapter Ten
Sirius
“Ithought we came out here to watch the stars,”Sirius said through their mental link.
“I guess I’m doing something wrong,” Alphonso said looking at him.
“Why is that?”
“Because, baby, each time we kiss I see stars.”
Sirius looked at Alphonso before he burst out in laughter. He couldn’t believe Alphonso said that and with a straight face.
“What, not sweet enough for you?”
“Oh gods, you better be lucky we’re mates, because with a line like that you wouldn’t get me to go home with you, much less buy me a drink.”
“I will admit it’s been a while since I picked someone up, but I am doing my job as your mate to make you forget about your troubles. And if you recall, my smooth talk got you to go out with me for coffee.”
“Actually, it was a ‘thank you’ coffee, and if I recall, there was the cute kid with the chubby cheeks and bright eyes that won me over. I’m still waiting for my coffee by the way.”
“I tell you what, spend the night with me and I’ll make sure you get that coffee I promised.”
“You’re already spending the night at my hotel…”
“Not at your hotel, at the mayor’s mansion I don’t like being away from Tamia or you for that matter. And as much as I don’t want to agree with my grandmother, you two need to get to know each other.”
“And you think a sleepover will work?”
“It’s the only way I can think of us starting to build a family bond.”
Sirius chewed on his bottom lip, contemplating the offer. Alphonso had a point. He needed to get used to being the other person in Tamia’s life since they were mates.
“Okay, but I’m not moving into the mayor’s mansion. We need to think about the next step, like finding a place to live together.”
“Who said I haven’t been thinking about it already?”
“Really?”
‘Yes really. I’ve been thinking about it since the day we met.”
“So, share your thoughts.”
“First, I need to tell my folks about you, and before you ask, they will be happy for us. They’ve been begging me to find my mate for years. I’m just not sure if they are ready to hear that I’m moving back to Vale Valley.”
“We’ll deal with it as it comes,” Sirius told him. They’d only been mated for a little over twenty-four hours, and in that time, he learned a lot more about not only himself but witches as well.
“Yeah, we will,” Alphonso whispered.
They stared at each other, and Sirius wondered why they hadn’t found each other before. He couldn’t see himself without Alphonso, and he realized he wanted to know everything about the man. Things would change for them over time, but as long as they stood by each other, nothing else mattered.
“Can you do me one favor?”
“Anything.”
“Take me back to my hotel room and reclaim me again, my alpha. Maybe I am feeling resentful toward my parents, and I just need you to keep me grounded and sane.”
Alphonso didn’t say anything instead rolled off him, and stood to his feet. He held out a hand for Sirius to take. Putting his hand in Alphonso’s didn’t feel like a small gesture, it felt as if he was putting his entire being in the man’s hands.
