“Yeah, I’m going to be working at the hospital and taking over the shifter obstetrics department.”

“Wonderful, I know how much Calista’s been looking for someone to head that up,” Rosemary added to the conversation. “And welcome to the family.”

“Um… thanks.” He realized that Rosemary and Bedwyr were the first two people to know about their mating.

Rosemary nodded then stood. “I’m going to head home, Alphonso stay the night with your mate, I’ll see to the witchlet in the morning. It’s the least I can do for inturrupting your night.” She looked at Sirius. “I hope to see you at breakfast in the morning. I don’t think you two should wait for Tamia to meet you.”

They watched her walk away before he turned his attention back to Bedwyr. “I’m not sure how to do this, and I need to be very honest with you. I thought you were a deadbeat dad and pretty much put you out of my mind.”

“How about we start with being friends?”

Sirius thought about it for a minute. “I guess we could do that.”

Bedwyr stood then reached into his pocket and pulled out a business card and handed it to Sirius. “When you’re ready to talk, call me, and we’ll talk.”

And just like Rosemary he was gone, leaving him and his mate alone.

“I have an idea,” Alphonso said before he could speak.

“What is it?”

Without speaking his mate stood, and Sirius followed suit. “Let’s go for some fresh air.”

“In this weather?” It had been snowing on and off all day, and he didn’t feel like dealing with a cold not when he was going to start working very soon.

“Yes, in this weather. Remember I told you about the Vale lake, that never freezes…”

“Don’t tell me we’re going to have sex in the lake?” Sirius asked cutting him off.

“Is that a fantasy of yours?”

“Maybe.” Sirius smiled.

Alphonso chuckled. “Let’s put it on the schedule for another night. Tonight, I want to look at the stars with my mate and if you feel like screaming or throwing something you can do it at the lake.”

“I told you I’m not upset.”

Alphonso cupped his face gently. “Your body language and your words don’t fit, baby.”

That shocked him, was he holding on to some resentment toward his parents and he wasn’t aware of it? Residing that Alphonso wasn’t going to take no for an answer, he agreed that they should get some air. Maybe it would help to clear his thoughts.
