He freely opened himself up to Alphonso’s firm but soft lips. He let the man’s scent surround him, and powerful arms continue to hold him close. He didn’t want the alpha to let him go. The humming inside of him intensified and he felt as if he was being swept away by large waves but knew he would never drown because someone was keeping him afloat. After a few breathless moments, Alphonso separated from their kiss, leaving Sirius panting and wanting more.

“I was right,” Alphonso whispered.

“About what?” Sirius asked not opening his eyes.

“You’re my mate.”

“If you kiss me like that again and I will be anything you want.”

“If that is your wish, then I’m happy to comply.”

* * *

Alphonso wentto lean in for another kiss, but Sirius opened his eyes just as he stepped out of his arms.

“What did you just say?”

“What part?” Alphonso asked. “The part about complying to your every wish or us being mates?”

“The being mate’s part,” he said backing further into the room. “What the hell is going on? I just found out that men can get pregnant and now my mate is standing in front of me.” He turned and looked at Alphonso. “Are you sure it’s not a mistake?”

“Are you seriously telling me that you can’t feel the pull between us? I felt it the second we met”

“Of course, I felt something. But you know…” he shrugged his shoulders. “I chalked it up to being horny.” Sirius’ cheeks colored as he looked away from Alphonso. “Plus, I was a bit preoccupied that day.” He turned his gaze back to Alphonso. “But it also explains why I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you when we only spent a few moments together.”

Alphonso walked into Sirius’ hotel room and closed the door. He wasn’t lying when he told the man he’d asked around town looking for him once he hadn’t seen him at the crepe shop since he frequented it a lot. Alphonso had remembered that Sirius said that he was a doctor and went to the hospital hoping to ‘accidentally’ bump into him. But instead, he was cornered by his old childhood friend Tessa who bribed him into having dinner with her and Calista her mate before she even coughed up the information.

“What do you mean you just found out that men can get pregnant? That’s something every supernatural should know about since the day they are born.”

“Well, not me. The only patients I’ve ever interacted with were humans. I’ve lived around humans my entire life. Hell, until a couple of weeks ago I was doubtful this place existed. I feel like I’m in a completely different sort of reality.”

I guess that’s why he freaked out when Ren touched his baby bump. It’s understandable if he’s never been around a pregnant guy before. It was a bit weird to think that there was someone that didn’t know that men could get pregnant.

“Please tell me you didn’t just find out you’re a witch?”

Sirius calmed down then smiled, and Alphonso’s heart skipped a beat. “No, that I was aware of since I was able to see my familiar from the time, I was three-years-old. And I’m pretty skilled in some rune magic.”

“Three years old,” Alphonso whistled impressed with his mate.

“Yeah, by human standards I’m labeled a genius.”

“You sound like my cousin Grayson,” he said taking off his coat and throwing it over the back of the couch.

“I’d say we’re neck and neck on the genius scale.”

“So, you know Grayson?”

“Not really, but I used to see him around the hospital we both used to work for. And even then, it never occurred to me that the Vale in his last name meant he was connected to the town.”

They were silent for a few minutes before Alphonso broke the silence between them. “I think I need to do this differently. I’m Alphonso Vale, and I believe—no, I know that we are mates.”

Sirius looked down at the hand Alphonso held out for a bit before taking it. “Sirius Henson and are you sure we’re mates?” The smirk on his lips told him Sirius was kidding around.

“Do you doubt me that much?”

“I don’t know you that well but if you kiss me again maybe I’ll believe anything you tell me.”

As soon as he finished his words, Alphonso took his mate’s lips in a bruising kiss. He had little knowledge of how witches recognized their mates. With shifters, it was scent, touch, eyes connecting, fire breathing life between them, and a gut instinct that the one you were searching for was in front of you. And gods he knew that the man in his arms belonged to him.
