Chapter Six
Sirius
Sirius paced the length of his room as he stared down at the diagram of an omega anatomy he still felt a bit shocked by it all.
Who knew there was so much information out there? And with pictures no less!
The doctor in him continued to be fascinated by how things worked. The thought of carrying the baby didn’t scare him as much as it did a couple of days ago. The idea of bringing his own flesh and blood into the world was winning him over. He was still not comfortable with the aspect of pushing the baby out of his ass. Just thinking about it made him a bit nauseous.
Why the hell didn’t my mother tell me about this shit?
Sirius drop down on the couch and read, pulling out the medical journals he’d gotten from Tessa on all male shifter pregnancies specifically on shifter physiology. Majority of the time it was a natural birth, but if there were a risk to the child and father the doctor would perform a cesarean section. The baby could be born in either its human or shifter form. He was amazed at all that he was learning, shifter births varied in length and species. For instance, winged shifters, like birds, lay an egg and wait for it to hatch.
Dragons, on the other hand, could be both natural and hatch birth. There were a few specialized doctors already employed at the hospital, but they would be working for him once he started. He was making a list of things he wanted to discuss with each doctor and hopefully familiarize himself with their patients. He planned on asking Kellan if he could observe the next hatchling appointment with the specialist Doctor Arthur.
I can do this job.
Even with his apprehension about getting pregnant one day, he had no problem taking on the new responsibility for his job. He’d already read through the majority of the medical books he’d gotten. Sirius had never had a problem retaining information quickly. It was how he was able to graduate from high school and med school at a young age.
Sighing he set the book back down, resting his head on the plush cushions and stared up at the white ceiling. He needed to get out of the room and find a place to live. He’d already planned on staying in Vale Valley, even if he hadn’t gotten the job. Since he had, he couldn’t live in the Inn forever no matter how friendly the staff was.
Sirius had closed himself off, simply absorbing all the information he needed since he found out about Ren. He groaned still embarrassed by the way he acted when he found out that the guy was pregnant. It wasn’t just Ren that came to his mind, but Alphonso as well.
The alpha was sexy and made his insides burn. Sirius’ face turned bright red, and his heart rate sped up whenever he thought about Alphonso. His imagination seemed to run away with him of the many things the other man could do to him.
Fuck, I wonder if it’s true what they say about sex with shifters? The man had been in his dreams since the day they met. Even with his coat on Sirius could only imagine how sexy he was naked.
Then again, he must think I’m an idiot for running out of the store like that. All the man wanted to do was buy me a cup of coffee.Hopefully, the next time I see him, I won’t embarrass myself. But his little girl is so adorable and seems like a handful. Note to self; I must avoid Alphonso until I’m sure I won’t embarrass myself.
Sirius sat up quickly when there was a knock on his room door. It had to be one of the Inn employees since he didn’t really know anyone in town. The only one that might check in on him would be Dora, a bobcat shifter Sirius had gotten to know in the past couple of days. He was stunned when he opened the door and came face to face with the man, that he hadn’t been able to stop thinking about.
“Al…Alphonso, what are you doing here? Is your daughter doing okay?” he stuttered.
The man looked even more handsome than the last time he saw him.How is that possible?Sirius’ heart sped up, he felt dizzy and flushed as if something was pulling them together. The low vibrating hum that had settled and had quieted over the past couple of days became louder. Sirius’ body had never reacted like this before.
“Tamia’s fine,” he whispered.
“So why are you here? How did you know I was here?”
“I’ve been looking for you, and Tessa told me you were staying here.”
Why is he looking for me?Truthfully, he wasn’t upset, he was flattered and just a bit curious. “Still doesn’t answer why you’re here?”
“I promised to buy you a cup of coffee, and I like to think I’m a man of my word.”
“That’s a good quality to have.” Alphonso was starting to impress him. “But you didn’t need to hunt me down. I’m sure we would have bumped into each other sooner or later.”
Shit, I’m getting excited just knowing the man was looking for me.
“Maybe but since you’re a doctor, I was wondering if you can prove a theory for me.”
“What theory is that?” he asked gazing up into the man’s beautiful green eyes.
Alphonso stepped closer to him and circled his waist with one arm, pulling Sirius against him, causing him to gasp.
“Al—”
Sirius never got to finish whatever he was going to say. Alphonso pressed his lips to his own and sparks ignited inside of him. Sirius moaned as his entire being melted against the other man’s larger form. He should push Alphonso away, but he didn’t want to. Things like a man spontaneously showing up to his home and kissing him as if his life depended on it didn’t happen. He wanted to savor the moment for as long as possible.
