“I lied, I just wanted to see how well trained you are,” Kallen said. “And how do you know my name?”
Duncan ignored the barb, he had only been in the other man’s presence less than a minute and he already wanted to kill him. He’d recognized him as the hunter that he spotted some nights ago as one of the guys in the car that was following him and Ryland. “Tell me what I want to know and maybe I will think about answering your question.” He couldn’t believe how calm he was being. One of his best men was hurt and although he would live, Duncan was pissed about it. He heard the growl building up in his chest.
“Didn’t I just tell you, I lied,” Kallen retorted.
“You don’t get to do that,” Duncan growled. “Why are you and your people watching us, what do you want from us?” The hunter flinched, but he did not say anything. “I pride myself on being a civilized human being.”
Kallen snorted. “You are all beasts, there’s nothing civil or human about you! And we are going to kill each and every one of you.”
“I’m shaking in my boots,” Duncan deadpanned.
“You should be!” Kallen yelled.
“How?” Duncan wanted to beat the shit out of the hunter but kept his cool. “How do you plan on doing that?”
“They are going to come for me, and when they do, I’m going to enjoy watching you die,” Kallen boasted not answering his question.
“That’s if I let you live long enough for them to find you.” Duncan smelled the hunter’s fear mixed with his blood.
“You won’t kill me.” His voice trembled just a bit.
Duncan didn’t answer, he smiled, and in one swift move he grabbed the hunter by his neck and lifted him into the air and pinned him to the nearest wall. The hunter’s hands were tied behind his back so he couldn’t fight back.
“Don’t test me, human,” he growled, showing his fangs. “As you said, I am more beast than human, so if I kill you now I won’t feel a thing.” The hunter was kicking his feet begging for breath the more Duncan squeezed his neck. “Like you said, I’m a beast. I have no feelings towards human scum like you.” He pushed the man deeper into the wall pressing against his bound wrists, knowing how tight the ropes were and cutting off the blood flow to his fingers. “So how about you cooperate and maybe I will think about sparing your pathetic life?”
Kallen’s lips moved, but no sound came out and Duncan didn’t let up his hold on the man’s neck, his face was turning blue and at the moment before he lost consciousness, Duncan released him and let him fall to the floor. The hunter gasped for breath and coughed a few times.
“Fuck,” Kallen wheezed. “You are fucking crazy…” He struggled to his feet and wobbled a little. “But I’m crazier.”
Duncan was expecting it. The hunter came at him head first, but Duncan didn’t move, he stretched his arm out, clothes lining the other man who fell on his back. Duncan and the other two men winced when they heard the sharp sound of bones breaking. The hunter screamed in pain and rolled to his side breathing harshly.
Duncan kneeled down beside the man, grabbing him. “All you had to do was play nice and none of this would have happened. Now I have to waste my doctor’s time to patch you up.”
Kallen looked at him. “I don’t want any of your filthy lap dogs touching me,” he snarled.
Duncan tsked. “Fine, then we will leave you here to suffer. When you are ready to talk, let us know. I’m no doctor, but I know broken bones when I hear it. And soon your hands will start to swell and those ropes will cut off your circulation...and you know what will happen next?” Duncan watched as the man’s expression changed from fear to worry. “Tell you what, we will leave you and give you some time to think about my offer.” Duncan got up, turning to face Sebastian and Parker. “Let’s go.”
Parker was the closest to the door and opened it. He waited for Duncan to walk out first, before joining him. Once they were out of the room and the door safely locked, he turned to them.
“He’s not going to give in quickly, and he seemed like he was trained to take a beating. Still, I can smell the fear coming off him.” Both men nodded.
Blayze came over and stood beside them. “How did it go?” he asked.
“I’m this close to killing him,” Parker said in a way of answering Blayze’s question.
“It’s too bad we need him,” Duncan sighed and scrubbed his face, clasping his fingers at the base of his neck. “I need to know what the Blackburn Organization is up to.”
“We need to gain his trust,” Sebastian said, looking down at his hand, flexing it. His knuckles were bloody from hitting the hunter so much.
“I agree, but he doesn’t trust us and I don’t trust him as far as I can throw him,” Duncan answered. He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. “Let’s leave him to stew until later, he’s not going anywhere, especially with a broken hand.”
Sebastian and Parker nodded their heads, just as Blayze asked, “Wait, he’s hurt?”
“Yeah, the idiot tried to go up against the Alpha and fell flat on his back,” Sebastian answered with a smile on his face.
“I think he broke his wrist,” Parker added.
“Then I need to see to it before something happens,” Blayze said.
