I stare at him a moment, then flick my eyes back over to the house, and now I see it in a completely new light.

Our house?

This is actually ours?

“Are you serious?” I ask through a wide grin.

He steps into me, taking my face in his hands. “One hundred percent. Quinn, I love you and I want you by my side, always.” I choke back a sob me he swipes away my tears with his thumbs. “Are these happy tears?”

I nod rapidly. “Yes. The happiest tears ever.” I pounce on him, my arms winding around his neck and my legs tight around his waist as I pepper kisses across his face the finally settling on his lips. I kiss him long and hard.

“When did you do all this?”

“I’ve been looking for houses for a while now, and I when I saw this one… I don’t know, something in my brain just clicked and I knew that this was the one.”

“It’s perfect. I love it.”

“And I loveyou.”

“I love you too.”

Chapter 54

Dwight

Two Months Later

“Well, I think that’s pretty much everything,” I say, dropping a box labelled‘bedroom’onto the ground at my feet and standing back with my hands on my hips as I look around the room.

The last couple of months have been a whirlwind. I worked my notice at the college, and walking out of those doors for the last time was bittersweet, but the vision of the future Quinn and I will have together makes it all worth it.

Since then, I’ve been working at Logan’s auto shop on the front desk whenever he needed an extra hand. I’ve been holding back on applying for jobs, as I’ve decided to get back into teaching. Since it’s April, I don’t think schools will be looking to take people on, so I’m waiting until the summer break to start applying. Until then, I’m enjoying spending every spare minute with Quinn, when she’s not at work or college that is. We’ve been redecorating, turning our new house into a home, giving the walls a lick of fresh paint and putting some actual carpet on the floors.

When I bought the place, the reason I got it so cheap was because it was in a state of disrepair, the previous owners didn’t look after it all too well and it was crying out to be updated from sickly and drab nineteen-eighties décor into something modern and classy. In two short months, we’ve transformed the place from shabby to chic, as Quinn likes to put it, but of course we couldn’t do it alone. Logan, my parents, Tori and even Lissy has helped out. Logan giving me a hand with the plumbing, my dad with the carpentry, Tori and my mom with the wallpaper and the furnishings and Lissy helping dish out orders on what needs doing next as she sat in the middle of the room with a list as long as her arm, ticking them off as we went.

Amy would stop by too whenever she got the chance, and when she was around, I could see her and Logan gravitating towards each other, laughing and talking like old friends. Every time I would ask Logan about it, he’d shut me down and laugh it off as nothing, though I know all too well the looks they were giving each other when the other wasn’t looking. The longing, the uncertainty of whether they felt the same. Quinn attempted to get information from Amy and she too had zero luck.

“And now onto unpacking everything… yay,” Quinn groans beside me, blowing out a breath.

I pull her into my side, my arm around her waist and press a kiss onto the top of her head. “The sooner we start, the sooner it will be over.”

“True. We can start downstairs and work our way up.” She bends down and picks up a box meant for the kitchen. My palm connects with her ass cheek and she squeaks, letting go of the box and spinning around to face me as she tries to hide a smile.

I shrug. “Couldn’t resist.”

“You’ll pay for that.”

“I look forward to it,” I tease before picking up my own box and following Quinn into the kitchen where we begin unpacking.

Since Martin Rogers was arrested, a dozen women have come forward with their own allegations against him, and as it turns out, Quinn’s recording of Rogerswasable to be used as evidence after some battling, so it’s safe to say he won’t see the light of day in a long time. He’s still set to stand trial for what he’s done, but he is to remain in prison until that time, having been rejected for bail. Quinn was anxious about the whole story coming out, and I did my best to reassure her that no matter what happens, I’ll always be there for her.

I can honestly say that the last two months have been the best of my life for such a long time. It’s the best feeling being able to finally hold her hand in public without worrying who might see. No more sneaking around, I intend to shout what a lucky bastard I am from the rooftops for everyone to hear.

I want everyone to know that the incredible girl that’s standing right in front of me now, is mine.

All mine.
