Rory: You’re welcome
Twenty minutes of midday traffic later, I realized we were at the warehouse where I’d tortured Dante.
Dipping my head at Chad as I stepped inside, I strode over to him and saw he had a tray in his hands.
A tray housing a syringe and a small vial.
Pleased at his preparedness, I arched a brow. “Hunter’s sure this is the hacker?”
“100%” His throat bobbed. “It isn’t?—”
“It isn’t… what?”
“She’s—”
“It was a woman?”
“It’s complicated, Stan.”
I retrieved the vial and bounced it in the palm of my hand. “You know her?”
“It was blackmail. She’s good people.”
“You’re friends?”
“She’s friends with a lot of us. Star, Cin, Troy… She has a kid, Stan.”
Unimpressed, I stated, “And her actions led to Kitty’s abduction.”
“It was blackmail,” he repeated.
I grabbed the syringe this time. “We’re not in kindergarten, Chad. You don’t get to sit on the naughty step when your actions led to the abduction of the Capo’s fiancée?—”
My cell phone rang at that exact moment.
When I saw the +44 prefix, I glared at him. “Is this your doing?”
He glanced at my screen and shook his head. “No. I don’t know who that is. I don’t have any friends in the UK?—”
“If you’re lying to me, you’ll be on the floor with her, living your waking nightmare together,” I snarled before I connected the call.
“You have someone I want.”
