"Yes.I believe it does," Zapier said."Your people attempted to destroy us by killing one of our most beloved rulers. If you do not think that does not deserve a reaction, I think you have far too many cybernetic parts."
"We are still humanoids."
"Not entirely."Zapier stepped back and the other scientists stepped into place.
They performed more tests.
That is what they called them.
Tests.
For Marcin, they just hurt.
It is time.Time to move again.
But I don't want to.
Does not matter.
Time to move.
Master System, I-
There is no one, you are part of the cyborgs. It is time to move.
Marcin opened his eyes.
One of the coolant pipes overhead dripped. He watched it fall, estimating its pattern. It had a chance of--
It splashed on his face.
On impulse, he raised his arm to wipe it away.
His arm moved.
He wasn't on the table anymore.
He was back in his cell.
The echoes of the voice of Master System remained with him.
He had not felt the connection of Master System since coming to this prison. It was not real, no matter how much it felt real, but he told no one that in his dreams, he heard the voice of the core of the Rhimodian cyborgs.
Master System was their protocols.Master System gave directives to the cyborgs, sharing data through the connections to each other. The cyborgs remained connected along a thin line.It maintained their way of life.
The voice had been gone upon entering the prison and he missed it.
He only heard it in his dreaming, some part of his deeper subconscious connected to his Craving and more primitive side to bring him some peace while in the prison. He had not asked the others if they experienced the same things, because it seemed pointless to do so.
It was a figment of his imagination.
Best not to dwell on it.
He started to move.
Everything ached.
Whatever they had done, they'd managed to make every pore hurt.
