Kian groaned."Very much.More than the physical release. This is something else.Do you think they have something in their blood that makes them more enticing?"
"Did you drink her blood?"
"No."
"Then no, I do not," Bahran said, smirking at Kian.
"I was trying to think of an answer."
"I don't like to find answers to something if I do not know the question."
Kian sighed."It's hard to believe we came from the same block. We could not be more different."
Bahran sighed."That is true. Our perspectives of the universe do not match."
"One thing I hope we both can agree on--these Terran females are unlike any I've ever known."
"Now that, I do agree with you about.Strong.Devoted.Determined.We will get this treaty signed and return our brothers."
Kian blinked."Brothers?"
"Our brothers at arms. The Terran Empire has a unit, possibly more, of Rhimodians who are prisoners of war. They have been experimenting on them for quite some time."
Kian’s mouth opened wide, and he stared at Bahran."How do you know this?"
"Through contacts on Disguised Serenity.'
Kian rolled his eyes."You cannot believe what those traders will say! They never speak the truth."
"This time, they have."
"How do you know?"
"Because Caoimhe found them. And she's having them brought home."
Kian nodded."If she can make it work, then I'll believe her.First, she has to get through the war."
Unfortunately, Bahran agreed with him.He didn't want to.He wanted to have full faith in Caoimhe and trust her.
Yet, under the circumstances, he wondered if even she had the power to do what she said she was going to do.
It was a very difficult task, ending a war.
And saving prisoners above that.
"Okay, try it now,"Bahran called out.
Kian activated the old ship's ignition."It's not doing anything."It was the only one in the chamber that seemed to have most of its functioning parts.Everything except fuel, anyway. Some of the equipment Bahran had worked on since being Tarnished was as old as this vessel, and it seemed to have the same kind of glitches and difficulties as the other things he’d worked on had.
"It's old.Give it a second," Bahran said.
The girls were eating some ration bars and drinking water that Freya had found in the supply bag.
Not far from either of them were the blasters he’d left them with before.
"I really feel like we should be doing something," Caoimhe said.
"We are," Freya said."We're giving them purpose.Since they're disconnected from their hive during the eclipse."
