"Except you would just give them everything so we could go back home," Caoimhe said.

Freya shrugged."Maybe.Whatever it takes to make peace, right?"

"Whatever it takes."

Veta headed out to the main room of the suite."I'll be out here."She glanced at Diado."I'll wear the over robe, but I"m not wearing those damn layers."

Diado sighed."Fine."

Freya glanced at Eleanor."Hey, come with me.I want to show you this while we wait on Diado."

The two of them walked out of the room, leaving Caoimhe alone with Diado.

The Imperial dresser helped her attach some clasps in the back.He still buzzed around her, moving with his usual flailing efficiency at getting her clothing just so.

"Is everything set?"Caoimhe asked quietly.

"Yes, Your Majesty.Everything is as ready as it can be."

"The rest of the ship's crew?"Caoimhe asked.

"All non-essential crewmen are leaving now and returning to the Terran Empire."

She glanced out the window again."We should be just now entering the edge of the Sol system, correct?"

"Yes.We'll be reaching the shields soon."

"Good. Now, if you'll give me a moment alone."

"Of course."

He walked out of the room, and she could hear him talking to the others, ensuring that she was left alone. She couldn't help glancing around the room to make sure she was alone.

Caoimhe crossed to a drawer, and pulled out a small jammer, and flipped it on.The signal would be interrupted if any of the ship's systems were monitoring her, though she didn't have long.Next, she removed Bahran's communicator and flipped it on.

"You have the most inopportune timing, Princess," Bahran said as soon as the hologram appeared. He wore a flight suit, and his face was obscured by a helmet, but she knew it was him.She could tell by his voice. The same voice that she heard in her head every night. Some nights, they were erotic and exciting.Others, they were simple, like sharing a meal or going for a walk. But all were pleasant, and she actually looked forward to going to sleep the last few weeks.

Much better than the nightmares she was used to having. The ones she didn't tell anyone she still had because they'd want to run tests or possibly try to erase her memories, and that was something she would not allow.

"You look very fancy," Bahran said.

"Thank you," she said, nodding to him."I don't have long.Your unit is the escort, correct?"

"Yes.As you requested."

"Good.Be sure that all your sensors are open and scanning and recording. We're going to need records of this."

"Of your ship coming into the Sol system?"he asked.

"Records of what happens when we do."

"A cryptic response."

"Bahran, please. As I ask.I will need the evidence."

"What evidence?"

"You have to trust me.But you'll know when you see it."
