Her very core stretched to accommodate him, and almost like she might burst. He kept coming and filling her.

And then he moved.

Slow at first, before he built up speed.

Freya dug her fingers into the bedding as he brought her to yet another orgasm.

And then he finished, crying out her name, before collapsing on the bed next to her.

He pulled her close and placed a kiss on her neck.

“I have never felt such contentment,” he whispered.

“Me either,” she said. “We should stay right here. Like this.”

“I will always be here for you, Freya.”

As he drifted off to sleep, Freya couldn’t help wondering, had he just made a commitment to her? Was there some Rhimodian traditional commitment speech? Not every humanoid used a ceremony to solidify commitment. Some only said certain words, and they were bonded.

Would she care if she were? Would it matter to her?

She peeked at his sleeping face that had adapted to the pillow’s white covering. She knew, no matter what happened, he would have her back.

Now and always.

And in a royal house, where finding true loyalty was difficult, she felt a sense of peace she’d not had in a very long time.

Epilogue

Kian woke and rolled over. He reached for Freya, but she was gone.

He bolted up.

“Freya?”

The suite was dark, except for a glow coming from the corner, where a terminal had been set up.

And there was Freya, working.

He climbed out of bed and crossed to her. “Freya, are you well?” He put his hand on her shoulder.

She reached up and patted his fingers but never took her eyes off the display. Reading over her shoulder, he saw she was coding some sort of signal, with her brooch on a terminal and a plug connected to it.

“I had an idea.”

“About?”

“I think I might know how to scan through the eclipse’s blocks and find the others.”

“If we can find out the number of Terrans are in the system, that would be very beneficial.” The idea of knowing exactly how many had infiltrated when the shields had been down would certainly help the Rhimodian defenses.

She nodded. “Exactly. And to pinpoint the rest of the Ambassadors would be good too.”

He stroked her neck. “We will find them.”

“I know we will.” She typed a few more commands.

He watched her finish what she was doing.
