“Stop playing with me before I hide your wheelchair.”

“Yeah, he touchy today. I’m just saying, how you getting put in second to a nigga named Garrett. Only Garrett I know is the popcorn.”

“I’m gone. Your nana can take you home. Arms gone be strong as fuck today.”

“I make a joke, you wanna take my chair, but they gave you the clap and you give her a bbq. I wonder which one of them gave it to you.” I walked towards the door about to head out.

“Devin, we was just playing.” Landon was apologizing, but laughing so hard he had tears rolling down his face.

“Fuck yall!”

“Nope, not me. I don’t want that hot shit. Jr, go in the bathroom and get me that bottle that says Penicillin. I wanna make sure he ain’t bring that shit in my house.”

“You do too much.” What pissed me off the most was Landon getting up to go get the bottle.

“Nana, you think I can get a few of these?” He tried to past her the bottle, but I slapped them out of his hand. Turning, I left out the door and out the house. I wasn’t leaving, but I was going to grab some food. They ass didn’t know that, and I hope they was sitting there looking dumb. Grabbing my phone, I called Blaise. I was about to curse her ass out again.

Something in my soul ain’t right. I can’t sleep at night. Wondering when a change is gone come. Feeling that I’m not the only one. Tell me when I turn you off. The doctor’s say it’s not my fault. All the neighbors stop and stare. My pastor says to stay in prayer. It will rain. There will be pain. Troubles will come, understand.

“Now you’re going out to party?” Garrett was really starting to work my nerves. Before Devin began coming around, he didn’t know if I was alive let alone cared. Every move I made now, he was on me and I was over it.

“It’s my four year anniversary as an anchor. I’m absolutely going out to celebrate it.”

“Why wouldn’t you want to celebrate it with me and I’m the reason you’re here.”

“Because I would like to enjoy myself. I’m not in the mood to put on fake smiles and give phony quotes once the media sees us out.”

“You been real mouthy lately. Do I need to put you back in your place?” My head whipped around fast.

“You can try. Garrett, picking a fight is not going to make me stay in the house. Your daughter is in the other room. I’ll see you when I get back.” Putting my red lips on, I grabbed my purse and walked out the room. I was looking good and feeling good, so I was not about to let him ruin my day.

“Blaise, please. I know I’ve neglected you lately, and I’ve also done some things to upset you, but I’m trying. Let’s just celebrate together and try to fix us.” I laughed as I continued towards the front door making sure I had an extra sway in my hips.

“You must lay up with some weak hoes. That gaslighting works with them?” He looked at me annoyed and I could see the anger flashing in his eyes. “Be smart. You might have cleaned me up, but you know I’m from the hood. I’ll beat your suburban raised ass all up and through here. Enjoy your daughter, and I’ll be back later.” I didn’t even look behind me when I walked out the door. Climbing in my car, I drove towards Roosevelt Rd. Wewere going to Mike’s, a small club in Berwyn and it wasn’t that far from my house.

There was no need to get on the expressway, and I needed to clear my head before I got there, so I took the streets. I wanted tonight to be a drunk good time, and I wasn’t trying to be thinking about Garrett. Between him and Devin, I was sick of them being in their feelings. See, people would assume I was weak because I allowed Garrett to do what he wanted when it came to other women. I didn’t love him, and I knew what I signed up for. Yes, it gets hard sometimes, but I preferred my career.

Devin came back into my life and as much as I would love to be with him, he doesn’t bring anything but complications. His presence alone threatened everything I worked for. I loved the crazy toxic side of him, but I couldn’t give him what he was asking for. So, that caused a lot of arguments between us. He felt I was playing in his face, but he knew I was married when he pushed his way in between my legs. Yeah, I definitely needed this drink with my girls. I sent Tyla and Shaq a text asking were they here, but of course, Shaq was late.

Tyla was parking, so I got out and waited for her to meet me at my car. There was no line thankfully, so we headed inside. After showing our ID and paying ten dollars, we headed inside and went straight to the bar. I paid for us a section and some wings before walking over to sit down while we waited for our stuff to come.

“Your sister changed her mind?”

“No, you know she’s never on time for anything if a dick is not attached.” We both laughed as I checked out the room. It wasn’t fully crowded yet, and I was glad we got here before it was.

“I really should be ashamed to be outside with her ass, but I’m riding her coat tail tonight. A bitch is tired of playing withmy rose. I need the real thing between these thighs.” I nodded thinking about Devin, but I knew I was playing with fire. That dick was so good though.

“Who knows, we all might leave with something tonight.” Tyla turned her lips up at me indicating I was lying causing me to laugh.

"You better call that sexy ass stalker you got up and give him some.”

“I might.” I shrugged causing her to squeal. Our food and drinks arrived, and I immediately dove in. They had the best wings. Letting out a little moan as I took another bite, I looked up and almost choked. Shaq walked in with a bra, thong, and heels on.

“Shaquoria Denise Brooks! What in the hell do you have on?”
