I smile against her chest. “As long as we get to do that? I’ll give you all the dates you could ever want.”
ChapterTwenty
LAYLA
“You ready?”
Simon pulls the shirt down over this head, covering those delicious abs of his.
“I am if you are.” The smirk on his face tells me he caught me staring.
“Yes.” I shake the dirty thoughts from my head. Simon looks good in my apartment like this. He looks at home here. He slid into my life like he’s always been a part of it.
It’s a feeling I didn’t realize I missed. Or if I even had it to begin with.
“Your words say yes, but that look on your face says you want to go back to bed.” Simon wraps his arms around me, dropping his forehead to mine. “I’d be onboard with bed.”
“Of course you would.” I push him off me, but he doesn’t budge. “But I have a fun surprise for you.”
“If it’s more of that lingerie…”
My smile is downright evil as I steal a quick kiss from him. I love how much he loves the lingerie I design. Even more how much he wants to tear it off me. Ever so gently, of course.
“Maybe if you come with me, I’ll show you what I’ve got on underneath here.”
Simon lets out a deep groan. “Now how am I supposed to concentrate with that thought in my head all day, love? That’s just cruel.”
“Then let’s get going.”
This time, I duck out of his hold and head to the door. It’s the perfect summer day in Dixon. The Tetons look as majestic as ever in the distance. Blake and Gemma wanted a few days to themselves before the wedding this weekend, so it was the perfect time to surprise Simon.
“Where are we going?” Wrapping an arm around me, Simon pulls me close. I find the back pocket of his jeans, slipping my hand inside and giving his ass a good squeeze.
We fall into an easy pace, the sidewalk busy with summer tourists.
“You’re like Willow. Always asking questions and can never take a surprise.”
“I don’t like surprises. Surprises in my line of work usually mean a bad thing.”
“Well, this isn’t work. And this isn’t a bad thing. Relax.”
“I’d relax a lot more if we were still at your place,” he whispers into my hair before dropping a kiss on my head.
Butterflies erupt in my stomach. I thought this thing with Simon would be a lot harder. I’ve never liked showing affection in public, but maybe that was because of Brad. He never would have wanted to anyway.
With Simon, everything is easy. Holding his hand. Kissing him. Laughing with him.
Turns out pretending the hot Brit is your fiancé isn’t all that difficult.
“Later. Now, here we are.”
“How does it take no time at all to get anywhere in this town?” Simon mutters as I pull the door open.
“Because everything is on the main drag.”
One of the perks of living in a small town.
“Where are we?” Simon is looking around.
