“Of course we are.” Leo looks at me like it should be the most obvious thing.
I sip on the sparkling juice before setting it down and walking over to the railing. “You know, you don’t have to do this. I’d be happy with you even if we were surrounded by people.”
“And what if I don’t want to share you?” He pierces me with a stare. The motor starts under us, pulling away from the safety of the shore.
“You know, it should bother me. Your possessiveness. But I can’t find it in me to mind.” My hands drift under his jacket, absorbing his warmth.
“Good. Because I don’t plan on changing.” His jaw tics as his eyes slide over me. I feel naked, stripped bare. Like he can see everything I feel for him.
The boat makes its way farther from shore, the cool breeze blowing through my hair. The sun is kissing the horizon, colors painting the sky. It couldn’t be a more perfect evening with Leo at my back.
“Mr. Scott. Your first course is ready whenever you’re ready.”
I turn to the table, now filled with various plates. “Thank you.” Leo’s voice is firm, letting him know we want to be left alone. “Are you ready for dinner?”
My stomach growls as if it knows it’s time for dinner. Now that the morning sickness has passed, I’m ravenous.
Leo holds my chair out for me as I peruse the feast in front of us. Dumplings. Mozzarella with tomatoes. Mini pizzas.
“This all looks delicious. Is everything safe to eat?” I’ve spent the last few months scouring the internet—obsessively at times—to ensure everything I was eating was okay for the baby.
“Yes.” Leo drops a kiss on my shoulder. “I told them you were pregnant, so everything is okay for you to eat.”
I peer up at him, the setting sun making him look like a god. “You’re kind of amazing, you know that?”
“Don’t go spreading that around. I don’t want anyone else thinking they get this side of me.”
Leo settles into the seat next to me. “Your secret is safe with me,” I vow.
The hum of the boat is quiet as we chug along. I grab a little of everything and put it on my plate. Leo moves in closer as I take a bite of the dumpling.
I close my eyes, moaning around the bite. “Can we cruise every night? This is amazing.”
“Is it now?” Leo leans over, giving me an intoxicating kiss. “Mmm. Tastes pretty good to me.”
Only Leo can make me blush like he does. “Stop it.” I lick my lips, staring at the handsome man next to me. He pops his own dumpling into his mouth.
“You’re right. This is pretty delicious. Not quite the best thing I’ve ever had in my mouth.” The dirty look on his face tells me exactly what he thinks the best thing is.
“What am I going to do with you?” I shake my head at him.
“I can think of a few things.”
I lean over the table, resting my chin in my hand. “Then you best behave yourself here, Mr. Scott. Because I plan on eating this fine dinner and then having you for dessert.”
“And you say I’m the tease.”
I settle back into my seat, enjoying the discomfort on Leo’s face. The sun has dipped below the horizon as the soft lights swing overhead. Music drifts through the speakers. It couldn’t be a more romantic evening.
“Thank you for bringing me out here tonight.”
“I had a part in making your year here a little harder. The least I can do is make sure you experience all the grandeur of my city.”
“Could be worse. If it were anyone else, I never would’ve seen them again.”
Leo looks like he wants to say something else but doesn’t. “So, tell me then. Is this what you thought would happen when you moved to Australia?”
“Did I think I’d be having dinner with the sexiest man I’ve ever met, cruising the harbour, thinking of all the ways I want to show my appreciation for him when we get home tonight?”
