I look down, having inhaled half the container. “What’s wrong with Tim Tams?”
“You realize you dipped them in Vegemite?” Horror. His tone is nothing but horror. “That might be the most sacrilegious thing I’ve ever seen.”
A hand covers his chest. His bare chest. God, I really am hard up if Leo’s horrified voice is turning me on. “They’re good together.”
“Vegemite is tar. I can’t believe we’re even having this discussion.” Leo plucks a cookie out and bites into it.
“Apparently the baby likes the combo. So no judging me.” I take a cookie and dip it into the thick paste. Locking eyes with him, I shove the whole thing in my mouth.
“I’m going to be sick.” Leo gags. I laugh at how ridiculous he’s being to my taunts.
“Welcome to my world. Well, not anymore.”
“How are you feeling today?” Leo sits at the end of the chaise I’m on, rubbing his hands up my legs.
“The world doesn’t seem quite so bleak in the early morning sunshine.” It’s already steamy, and it’s not even eight in the morning. Summers are no joke in Sydney.
“I’ve already been in contact with your landlord.”
“You have?”
Leo nods. “One of the perks of being a long-term renter of the building. He is at my beck and call.”
Leo is not one to be messed with. Seeing him flex his might yesterday was a huge turn-on. But if I were on the receiving end, I’d run with my tail tucked between my legs.
“The tenant with the illegal aquarium will be removed, so hopefully once it’s fixed, you won’t have to worry about it.”
“I don’t get it.” I dip another cookie into the Vegemite and get another sneer from Leo. I ignore it. “Who would want to keep weird fish like that at home when you can go see them anytime here?”
Leo leans down on one arm, moving closer to me. “Not everyone wants to go do all the dangerous things this country has to offer.” He squeezes my leg. I love it when he touches me. I shouldn’t like it as much as I do.
“Well, clearly something is wrong with you lot.” I lick the cookie crumbs and Vegemite residue off my fingers, watching Leo’s eyes track the movement.
“What’s wrong with who?” A voice from behind startles me.
“Oh, fuck.” Leo’s head drops.
“Well, well, well. Don’t we look cozy.” A man rounds the corner, looking similar to Leo. Dark brown hair and brown eyes. Same gleam in his eyes.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” Leo sits up, moving away from me.
“I can’t come see my favorite brother?” He holds his hands up, like Leo is the idiot.
“Not on a Saturday morning, you can’t.”
“It’s a good thing I did.” He turns to me, sticking out his hand. “Kai. Leo’s better-looking younger brother.”
I take his hand. “Reagan. Nice to meet you.”
“Reagan? Are you the baby momma?” Kai wiggles his eyebrows at Leo.
“Can you have some sense of decorum?” Leo mumbles something about him being a prick.
“It’s Reagan. Not baby momma.”
Kai throws his hands up. “Yes ma’am. I can see why you like her, Leo.”
Leo’s practically squirming. I’m enjoying it way too much. “Again, is there a reason for your visit?”
