“What do you mean?”
“When Zayne called me about the message, I told Lorenzo about the baby. He wanted to go to the island. I then called Zayne and asked if he’d help me get you and my brother under the same roof. Told him we had to make it look legit so both you and Lorenzo would believe it. Then when he got you there, I called Lorenzo and told him you were coming to rescue Zena. And the rest they say is a clusterfuck of epic proportions of which only my brother was aware. He was onto Zena from the moment he sat down at the bar and you made him that first drink. Lorenzo is an excellent judge of character and he saw her manipulation from a mile away. Only, he didn’t count on falling so hard for you.”
“Now, can I say case closed.” Zayne lifted his drink at me.
“Well, if my cousin is still sitting here and Lorenzo is wherever he is, I’d say case not closed,” Trent piped up. “You two smartasses played cupid once and you’re about to do it again.”
“No,” I whispered, and three pairs of eyes turned my way.
“Why not?” Trent’s brow creased.
Rising, I slipped my hands into my pants pockets and moved to the window overlooking the dancefloor below. Slowly, I turned and leaned my butt on the ledge. “I’m not ready for that, Trent. I don’t think I ever will be.”
“Jesus, Ray, you can’t be serious.” Trent stood and neared me. “What are you afraid of?”
“That maybe my feelings are all over the place and either I’m not emotionally equipped to handle it or I have no clue how to.” I shrugged.
“At least speak to your father before you make this your final decision.” My cousin nudged my shoulder.
“I’ll think about it,” I replied as a pretty woman entered the office and zeroed in on Zayne before walking toward him then she stopped short, her shocked gaze landing on Remo who looked just as surprised to see her.
“Isn’t she the waitress at Ashrika’s restaurant?” I asked.
Trent nodded. “Yeah. She’s also the bodyguard that Zayne had protecting Ashrika.”
“You’re shitting me. She’s pretty hot for a bodyguard.”
“She’s fucking feisty as shit too.” Trent chuckled as we moved closer.
“Well, well, well, would you look at that. The Serpente finally regurgitated its entrails along with all the shit it sells.” She smirked at Remo, her expression bored annoyance.
I gawked, not sure what shocked me more. Her use of crass words on Remo or his subtle interest. These two had history.
“Hello to you too, Katarina,” Remo’s usually hard smirk, was now replaced by a slight twitch to his lips. “Came back to suck my cock,Tia amore.” Yep, they definitely had history.
“It’s Tia Ramon, fucknut. I’m love only to my friends. As for your cock, you’ll have to find it first, you know, seeing as your ego tends to swallow the smaller shit,” she scoffed.
I choked on the drink Trent handed me as my jaw hit the floor and bounced back up. Finally, someone who didn’t let Remo get to them and gave as good as he did. Zayne and Trent cracked up. I was loving Remo’s scowl as Tia tossed her dark hair over her shoulder and neared Zayne. As much as I wanted to find out about Remo and Tia’s history, I figured he wasn’t the sharing kind. The same could definitely be said for the other brother.
I rolled my neck to ease the tension as Trent signaled for me to join him and the other two men at the bar. Getting drunk seemed like the perfect distraction for my unsettled head.
