My body grew heavy with a need for sleep. Lying there on top of her, with my body melding to hers, a heaviness drew my eyes closed.
Was this really going to happen?
Would I survive the nightmares?
“Sleep, Gee,” my little firefly whispered. “I’m not going anywhere. I’ve got you.”
And her reassurance was the last little bit my body needed to succumb to the darkness.
I wasn’tsure how long I slept. I wasn’t sure if she slept. I wasn’t sure of anything, to be honest. All I knew was that when my eyes fluttered open, I felt her body pressed to mine. My cock had long since dwindled, and the crusted mess of the sheets beneath us wafted up a scent that flared my nostrils beneath my mask. We stayed like that for a while, her curves pressed to mine as my hands mindlessly wandered. She yawned as she wiggled back against me, that precious little ass of hers caressing the heat of my cock.
I wanted nothing more than to turn her over, pull that ass into the air, and?—
“Gee?”
I used her shoulder to nuzzle up my mask before I kissed her bare shoulder. “Yeah, Jaz?”
She wiggled around in my grasp until she faced me, her beautiful eyes searching mine. “Thank you for giving me the ability to look in on my father.”
I smiled softly as I brushed a strand of hair away from her forehead. “It’s the least I can do. Did you get any sleep?”
She smiled a sleepy, dopey little smile that tugged at my heart. “The best.”
Her lips puckered, and I dropped mine to hers. And while our lips were connected, I turned onto my back, pulling her with me until her body was the one sloshed on top of mine. Her hair sprawled out everywhere. Her limbs, tired and resting against me in all sorts of positions. I felt the hammering of her heart against my skin, because at some point in time I came out of my shirt.
Revealing the rest of the scars I got during my time in the marines.
She didn’t flinch, though. She just laid there, tracing them with her fingers. Like she wanted to memorize their patterns.
“Did you get all of these on the same tour?” she asked softly.
I grabbed her hand that was tracing them and brought it to my lips, kissing her knuckles. “If I tell you, we have to get one thing straight.”
“Okay?”
My eyes found hers as she perched on top of me. “You’re mine.”
She didn’t immediately react, and that had me worried.
“You’re mine to cherish, mine to protect, and mine to enjoy. I will track you so long as we are together. You will never spend another second alone, even if you are physically alone. I will always have eyes on you, somehow, in some way. But you will never be alone again, so long as you want to be mine in return.”
Her eyes watered over, and for a moment, I thought she was going to reject me.
Until she pressed her lips to mine like it was nothing.
“I’d love nothing more than to be yours,” she whispered.
“Then, no,” I said as I ran my fingers through her beautiful, yet tangled hair, “I didn’t get all of them on one tour.”
She settled her chin on my chest. “Will you tell me about them sometime? I mean, you don’t have to talk about the ones on your face, but the ones on your chest?”
“Got some on my back, too.”
Her eyes widened, and it only made me chuckle.
“I’ll tell you any story you want, so long as you understand that they’re not pretty stories,” I said.
She just shrugged. “They’re part of you. I want to know them if they’re part of you.”
