“Thanks, my king,” she said in a sultry voice that damn near tipped me over.

My cock pulsed at her words. “Of course, my queen.”

Then, without another word spoken between us, I headed for the door and slipped out into the hallway where Mav stood there, looking at me with a goofy grin on his face. His lips moved, but I had no fucking clue what he said, because all I could think about was Brielle. If I stayed in that bedroom long enough for her to ask me again, I’d stay. I’d stay right there with her until this entire saga was wrapped the fuck up.

And my men needed me out there with them instead of curled up with her.

DANTE

Axton’s heavy footfalls barely touched the steps as he damn near leapt down them. I fell in line at his side, striding with his lumbering footsteps as I gripped a tablet in my hand. Things were moving so quickly that we had to brief him quickly.

And where the hell Mav was, I had no fucking clue.

“What do you want?” Axe asked gruffly.

I whipped in front of him and held out the tablet. “She’s already been spotted. She’s less than four miles from us.”

His face fell blank as he ripped the tablet from my palm. “That was quick.”

“Have a look. It’s the camera feed from the hospital.”

He quirked an eyebrow. “How did you and Mav manage—”

“Just look at it, would you?”

His brow stitched itself together before his stare dropped to the screen, and when it did, he tilted his head. I watched the reflection of the reel in his eyes, clocking his every tick and twitch as the scene unfolded.

“When did this happen?” he asked.

“It’s happening now.”

He whipped his head up. “She’s erratic. Moving a little weird.”

“Did you see the thing wrapped around her waist?”

He handed the tablet back to me. “So, that’s what I think it is.”

I nodded. “She’s been shot. And if her blood doesn’t clot—”

That grin of his pulled his cheeks taut. “It means that she’s going to bleed out. That makes her desperate.”

“And I figured we could use that to our advantage.”

He searched around the front foyer. “Where the fuck is Mav?”

I thumbed over my shoulder. “Gathering the guys. I figured you’d wanna roll once you saw the footage. You got a plan we can execute?”

CRUNCH! Crunch, crunch, crunch.

CRUNCH! Crunch, crunch, crunch.

CRUUUUNCH!

I didn’t even have to turn around to know who the fuck had come up from the damn basement.

“Really?” Axe asked as his voice fell flat. “At a time like this?”
