“Can do,” Goose said.

“Angel? You in position?” I asked.

I looked toward the rooftop of the main storage warehouse and saw nothing but the small, soft glint of the scope on his rifle. “I am, yes.”

I grinned. “Fantastic. Reaper, are those extra weapons ready to go just in case?”

“Ready and waiting for action,” he said.

“Bender?” I asked.

He was behind me mere milliseconds before his voice appeared through my earpiece. “Ready, bossman.”

I looked over at him as he stepped up to my side. “You sure about that?”

He peered over at me. “I’ve been ready for this for a while.”

I tried my best not to allow my guilt to overwhelm me. “Right.”

“Are you ready, Fangs?” Angel asked through the earpiece.

Everyone fell silent, waiting on my response. And as I pondered my words carefully, I finally figured out what I wanted to say to all of them.

“We are going to hold back in the shadows right up until the point where Bullet and his men start unloading the women. That is going to be our cue to leap into action because we’ll need to make sure we have the right dock and that nothing is going to get screwed up.”

“That didn’t tell me whether or not you’re ready,” Angel said.

I chewed on the inside of my cheek. “Ask me that question again after we’re done.”

“You can count on it,” he said.

I clapped my hands together. “All right. Places, everyone. It’s almost showtime.”

We had bumbled through this shit for far too long, and I wasn’t going to let them flounder any longer. Either we were successful tonight, or I gave my life chasing after Bullet until him and I were both dead. No matter what, though, he wasn’t getting away from that dock alive.

Even if I had to kill myself in order to get it done.

“Bender,” I said as I turned to face him.

“Don’t you dare,” he warned.

I placed my hand on his shoulder. “Take care of these men if—”

“Stop that shit right now,” Viper demanded.

I tapped my earpiece, turning it off. “If something happens to me—”

He turned to face me, shrugging off my touch. “It won’t. I’ll make sure of it.”

“But if something does happen—”

“Fangs, I’m telling you—”

“Will you shut the fuck up and listen?” I growled.

He curled his lips over his teeth and didn’t say a word.

“Now,” I said as I drew in another deep breath. “If something happens to me tonight, this entire operation falls onto your shoulders. No one leaves here tonight until Bullet is dead and his men are in handcuffs. They don’t get to live another day in our city, no matter what it takes. Understood?”
