“And if they don’t come back with an answer that’s suitable for us, we gun down every single woman they’ve got through the walls of this place,” Bullet bellowed.
I gnashed my teeth at Fangs. “Fuck you for doing this to us.”
All he did was nod his head before his hand released my neck. I was ready to put the bullet between his eyes for good, but I needed answers first. What original deal? What the hell had Fangs pulled behind our backs?
Everywhere I looked, there were angry faces.
All of us, except for Fangs.
“Guys? Inside,” Fangs commanded.
I wanted to tell him no, but everyone else followed him inside. I peered over my shoulder at Bullet, who stood there with at least a dozen and a half guns pointed at the building I had told Rose would keep her safe. I was ready to spill blood. I was ready to bury bodies left and fucking right.
Starting with Fangs.
“You better have a damn good reason as to what’s happening right now,” I glowered as I stormed back into the clubhouse.
Viper slammed the door behind me, and that told me everything I needed to know about his own disposition.
“You turned yourself over to him, didn’t you?” Bender asked.
The entire room fell silent as Fangs sighed. “It was the only way to keep everyone safe.”
Guilt flooded my stomach before my anger retargeted itself. “You can’t do that. He’s going to kill you.”
Fangs shrugged. “I’m an old man in this game. Or I might as well be. Everyone’s debt comes due eventually.”
“There has to be another way, though,” Goose said.
Fangs clicked his tongue. “I hoped to be able to renegotiate once they got here. But I don’t think Bullet is going to budge. And we’ve got too many innocent women in here to call their bluff.”
“I could get them out the back door,” I said.
“And take them where?” Fangs asked. “Look, I’ve already thought this through, and if this is the only way to keep the club safe, then that’s what we have to do. At least, for now.”
Bender shook his head. “We’re not letting you do this.”
“I’m with him,” Viper said.
Fangs looked right into Bender’s stare. “I know you don’t like it, but you’ll let it happen anyway. For the sake of the people in this clubhouse, you’ll let it happen. Understood?”
“So, what was the rest of the deal?” I asked.
Fangs slowly turned to face me before he drew in a deep breath. “I go with them along with one lump sum of money from the account. Then, they will end the war.”
“That’s bullshit, and you know it.”
“I know, but it’s all we’ve got right now. We can’t afford for them to open fire, we aren’t in a position to defend ourselves or the women we’ve got in this place. This is the only shot we’ve got at peace, at least for now.”
“So, what do we do, then? Just watch you walk away?” Angel asked.
Fangs nodded. “Yes. You watch me walk away, Reaper initiates a lump sum transfer, and then you guys figure out how to end this motherfucker while I keep him entertained.”
I placed my hand on his shoulder. “We will get you out of there. Don’t do anything stupid, all right?”
“I sure as hell hope you guys do before that asshole decides I’m no longer of any use to him.”
Bender ground his teeth together. “Give up everything you’ve got to the club. Answer their questions. We’ll pivot as necessary, okay?”
