“Mother Fucker!”

I jumped at the bellowing sound of the mountain man roaring out. He balled up his fists and whipped around, and I watched in horror as he sank both of them into the wall. The plaster buckled as if it were nothing but papier-mâché and I held my breath as Caleb rushed to help the man pull his hands out from the wall itself.

“Viper, take a breath,” Caleb whispered.

The huge man’s nostrils flared with anger. “How is this happening? How the fuck do they know everything?”

Caleb shook his head. “I don’t know, but I intend to find out.”

Fangs was the only calm one, and it unnerved me. “All right, all right. Let’s all take a breather and come back to this in the morning.”

Viper balked. “You want to sleep on this information?”

Caleb nodded. “They named our women. Called them out. I really think we should deal with this—”

Fangs held up his hand, stopping everyone in their tracks. “Reaper, go get Viper’s hands cleaned up. Everyone else? We’ll have a private church meeting in our regular place promptly at eight in the morning. Get some rest, and we’ll come back at this with a level head.”

I cleared my throat. “What do you want Caleb to do about the money?”

Fangs slowly turned his attention in my direction, and I didn’t like the way he looked at me.

“You leave that to us. Go get some sleep. All of you.”

I tilted my head. “Fix your face with a nice smile for me, and I just might.”

“Rose,” Caleb said.

I held my hand up to him. “I’m waiting.”

Fangs drew in a deep breath through his nose before he forced his face to relax into a creepy-ass smile I’d never get out of my worst nightmares.

“Now, will you get some sleep?” he asked.

I shrugged. “You know, you really didn’t have to do it. I would’ve gone to bed anyway.”

The women around me cackled with laughter, but none of the guys were having it.

Man, they took each other way too seriously.

“All right, listen up,” Bird Man said as he stepped into the middle of the chaos, “this club is officially on lockdown. If anyone wants to come and stay here until this is all settled, there are plenty of rooms to occupy. But if you choose not to stay here, then understand that you risk running into the Devil’s Rage without us by your sides. Understood?”

A sea of heads nodded before he tacked on one last thing.

“Just so that we’re clear, anyone who chooses to come here isn’t allowed to leave once you arrive.”

I blinked. “Wait, what?”

“You heard me,” Fangs said as he turned away from me, “should you choose to stay here, you’ll be protected, but only because you’ll be staying here. So, make preparations with your work. Take time off, if you need it. We can forge doctor’s notes and other shit on your behalf, if necessary. But that’s the cost of staying here: once you get here, you don’t leave until this is over.”

“Hey,” Caleb said as he whispered in my ear.

I jumped before I whipped my gaze up to meet his. “Is he being serious right now?”

“Reaper, you got a second?” Fangs asked.

Caleb tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. “Stay right here. I’ll be back.”

He didn’t step far away from me before he and Fangs spoke in that fake-ass whispering shit that men thought they were good at.
