“Fuck off, Steel Dickheads!”
The shouting voice came from above our heads before gunfire rained down below us. We all took off in different directions, trying to get out of the line of fire as Aria clung to my cut. I had to get her to safety. I couldn’t have bullets fucking flying at her god damn back.
And after I circled around, I watched one of the abandoned buildings light up.
Before the screams and cries of women needing help filtered out into the abandoned street.
“They’re in there,” I said as I pointed toward the lit-up abandoned building.
“All right, men,” Fangs said, “this is it. Ready yourself for war.”
“What do you want me to do?” Aria asked.
I walked my bike over into the shadows and put the kickstand down. “Stay here. Your job is for after we get those women out. And I’m serious, Aria. You aren’t armed and they’re out for blood. Got it?”
She nodded. “I hear you.”
“Good,” Angel said as he strode for me. “Now, come on. We have women to rescue.”
Bullets pelted into the cement and it killed me to leave Aria behind. I flipped up my helmet’s visor and watched as she did the same, and the fear that rushed behind her eyes made me sick. She could play brave all she wanted, but I knew she didn’t want me to leave her side.
However, I didn’t have any choice.
“I’m coming back for you,” I murmured. “Just stay put.”
She nodded her head before Angel and I made our way around the corner. I withdrew one of my weapons from my right hip and pinged a guy in the leg as he came around the corner. Fangs had a group of our younger prospects shooting right up the facade of the building, taking out windows and distracting the whole of the club while some of us tried to find a way inside.
And after someone charged out of a side exit that led straight into the building, Angel aimed down the sights of his pistol.
Before popping the man between the eyeballs.
“Good shot,” I whispered.
He tapped my shoulder. “Let’s get inside. We have to figure out where those girls are.”
I grabbed Reaper by the cut as he sprinted by us before I yanked him inside. Gunfire followed us in and we all hit the deck, then I turned around and aimed for the groin of the man that had been following him. I shot twice, one for each fucking ball of his that he didn’t deserve to have, and as he bled out from his pelvis, he hit the ground face-first.
Before the door closed and separated us from the outside world.
“From what I could pull up on my phone in county records, there’s a basement to this place. I bet you that’s where those girls are,” Reaper whispered.
Angel stood and walked over to a door that was barred closed. “I think this might be it.”
I shrugged as I took aim at the bars. “Seems like a good place to start. Stand back.”
After shooting the bars off the fucking thing, shrieking screams wafted up the rigid staircase that became exposed as the door eased open. I steeled myself for whatever the hell we were about to come into contact with as Angel led the charge down the steps. Reaper used his cell phone light to guide us down, and we took great care to step around exposed nails and severed pieces of wood.
However, when we turned the corner, none of us could’ve been prepared for what we found.
“Those sorry sons of bitches,” I growled.
“Tell me you found those girls!” Fangs exclaimed into my ear.
I winced as Angel practically ripped his helmet off his head. “We found them. They’re chained up in the basement.”
Reaper rushed by us. “It’s okay, we’re here to help. Let me see, okay?”
Everything moved in a blur after that point. Footsteps rushed above us, which meant that Angel and I had to prepare for a firefight. We knelt down onto the stairs and took potshots at the men trying to get down to us. I yelled at Fangs that we needed backup. We needed other people to help us.
