“What the fuck do you think is supposed to happen now!?”
“Get him the hell away from me.”
“I think he should be tossed out.”
“I think he deserves a second chance.”
“I think he deserves to fall on his fucking face right off a god damn cliff!”
I heard them yelling as I pulled up in my car. I didn’t bother parking across the street, though. I slipped out and made my way up the porch, listening as their voices mounted. They all sounded angry as hell, and I was about to walk right into the lion’s den.
Then again, when the fuck did I start caring about that kind of shit?
“Hello, boys!” I chirped as I threw the front door open.
Everyone halted in their tracks and turned to face me. Bender’s stare caught my attention first and the way his face flushed with fury told me everything I needed to know. He stormed up to me. He reached out and grabbed my upper arm. And as he yanked me close to his face, I teetered on my tiptoes.
Trying my best not to kiss him right then and there.
“What in the absolute hell do you want?” he growled.
“I’m inclined to ask the same question,” Fangs said with his arms crossed over his chest.
I wrenched out of his grasp. “I come bearing a message from my sister, Nadia. Who I know one of you has fucked.”
That silenced everyone as I walked into the middle of the room.
“You’re here to figure out who banged your sister?” the mountain of a man in the corner asked.
I shook my head. “No, I simply come with a message. She’s pulling a volunteer shift at the women’s shelter tonight and she’s had a couple of battered and dirtied women come in.”
“And?” Fangs asked.
I turned to face him. “They claim that they escaped from a Devil’s Rage sex club. They claim that they were slaves. And Nadia has told me that it’s not the first time they’ve received women with those same claims.”
A taller man I remembered as Reaper stepped to the forefront. “Do those girls know where they were being held?”
I shook my head. “No, they aren’t exactly sure.”
“Here? In town?” Fangs asked.
I nodded. “My sister said that they ran for about twenty minutes before they reached the women’s shelter.”
“Reaper,” Fangs said.
“On it,” the man murmured.
“We can’t let them get away with this. How the hell did we not know this!?” Angel exclaimed.
“I know I’m not the favorite right now, but we have to do something,” Bender said as he stood behind me.
“And I want to go with you guys,” I said.
“Hell, no,” Fangs hissed. “You’ve gotten us into enough trouble for one week.”
“Yeah, you’d just get in the way,” Angel said.
