She sauntered away from me and I hated how I stared at her ass. She was this petite little thing with an attitude the size of the sun, and my cock twitched against the zipper of my pants. I cleared my throat and cracked my neck. I jogged to catch up with her as the phantom heat of her skin against my palm rushed up my arm.
She peered over her shoulder at me before she started up the steps, and when our eyes met for the second time, I watched her cheeks redden.
Your body gives you away, sweet girl.
I pulled my phone out of my pocket and shot Fangs a text. He needed to know what the hell was about to happen. We used the shorthand language we had become all too familiar with when trying to cover our tracks, and when I got a thumbs up emoji from him, I held out my arm.
“Well? You coming or not?” I asked as I brushed past her.
She followed effortlessly behind me. “Just making sure you aren’t pulling anything shady.”
I chuckled. “Cute. In any other world, I might actually take you seriously.”
“Any reason why you don’t now?”
I tossed open the front door. “It’s the way you come off. You look more like a toddler throwing a tantrum than a woman digging for a mystery. So, go on. Time to dig, little girl.”
She scoffed as she pushed her way past me and the guys stood there with their arms folded across their chests. Viper stood behind them, towering over all of us as the woman stopped herself dead in her tracks. She slowly looked over her shoulder at me, as if to say ‘really? Just really?’ And as a smirk crossed my face, I started introducing the guys.
“This is Fangs, our President. The tall one is Reaper, our Tech Officer. Goose is our Road Captain, Angel is our Sergeant at Arms, and the big guy back there? That’s Viper, our Enforcer.”
“Uh huh,” the woman said with her tongue shoved into her cheek.
“You gonna introduce yourself?” Fangs asked flatly.
The woman shook her head. “Not unless you want to start answering questions about what happened last night.”
Viper blinked. “You mean, when I caught you sneaking into the alley exit?”
“What?” I glowered as I looked down at her.
The woman shrugged. “Can you blame a woman for being curious?”
“Yes,” we all said in unison.
She grinned. “Cute.”
Viper’s gaze met my own. “Why the hell did you bring her here again?”
I shook my head. “She was already parked outside. I figured I could bring her in, show her around, then have fun tossing her out on her ass once she realizes that we have nothing to hide.”
“Uh huh,” Angel said.
The woman stepped up to the forefront. “So, why all of the police? Why were people running in terror from your club last night?”
Fangs shrugged. “Someone found a spider?”
The woman’s face grew red with impatience. “I’m serious. The public has a right to know if their lives are in danger.”
Angel chuckled. “In danger from what? A nice night out and some drinks?”
“Whatever the hell happened in that club last night,” she spat.
Reaper barked with laughter. “Not much patience for a reporter, huh?”
Fangs grinned. “Probably doesn’t have much of a career.”
I shrugged. “How could she? If we don’t take her seriously, how does anyone else?”
