I take a breath in and his basil scent sparks further desire deep in my belly.
“Mi amor,” Mateo growls. “Move faster, or get her out.”
My Omega whines at what she thinks is rejection. Augie takes my chin in his and shakes his head. “No, beautiful. It’s not what you think. We just don’t want to take advantage.”
“Please,” I groan, even though I don’t know what I’m pleading for.
“I need you to focus, okay?” His fingers pulse on my chin and I blink a few times to try and clear my mind.
I nod and he continues, “There are three very needy Alpha’s behind you, and their biology is riding them hard to take care of you. To give you what you need, but we don’t want to assume anything just because of this”—he taps his heart—“and your heat. So if you don’t want their help, you have to go with Sadie now to the clinic.”
A snarl bursts from my lips at the idea of being taken away from my scent matches. I could never let another pack touch me now, and to go through a heat alone with toys would harm me. Already my Omega feels as if she could be getting rejected. If I were to go through this heat alone, knowing that I found my scent-matched pack, it would ruin me.
“Do you not want me?” I ask, my voice more broken sounding and pathetic. But I can’t find it in myself to care right now.
He looks confused for a moment before he cups my cheek, stroking his thumb over the heated skin. “I’ve wanted you for a long time, Iris. Even before I knew you were ours.”
So many thoughts run through my head, so many questions. None of which I’m capable of asking right now. It’s not like I’ve ever been in this situation before, nor did I ever plan to be. Finding your scent matches is rare, and going into heat like this doesn’t happen much any more with all the medical advancements. But it’s happening.
My stomach clenches in answer and I grit my teeth.
“If you want us to take care of you, we’ll get you back to our place. We have a nest, it’s never been used.”
“You’ll be there?” We may have just met, but I know my Omega needs him. It doesn’t matter that he’s a Beta, my Omega wants him.Iwant him to be there as ridiculous as that sounds. In some odd way, I feel like I’ve known him my whole life.
“If you want me to be, I will.”
I nod vigorously and he smiles, the kind of smile that makes me want to throw my arms around him and kiss him.
“Does that mean you consent to Pack Quinn taking care of you through your heat, Iris?”
I nod but he shakes his head, holding my face firm in his hands now.
“I need you to use your words, sweet girl.”
“Yes, I consent.”
“If at any time you want to leave, you tell me and I’ll get you to a clinic.”
I know that won’t happen, but I nod anyway, my Omega pushing hard against my mind to be set free completely and take over. She found her scent-matched pack, she’s going into heat, she wants them, and I’d be a liar to say I didn’t want them just as much, no matter how wild that sounds.
“August has my number,” Sadie says. I flick my gaze to hers and she’s not looking at me, but behind me. The scent of soothing mint invades my nose before the Alpha’s presence is at my back.
“I’ll contact you when I can, Sadie. Now go, we’ve got her, I promise,” Augie says, his voice so strong in its conviction it would be impossible not to believe him.
Sadie gives me one last look and I do my best to nod and smile before she turns and hurries off set.
Before I can turn to meet the Alpha behind me, I double over, pulling away from Augie. Strong hands pick me up and my Omega already knows his touch and scent before I see his face. Wilder.
He holds me to him, hazel eyes no longer blown with near rut. They’re still dark with desire, but there’s something else in them. Awe maybe? Wonder?
“I’ve got you now, little Omega. It’s going to be alright.”
His deep voice rumbles against me, and in any other circumstance I’d think it was funny he was calling me little. But in his arms, I feel just that. His minty scent fills my nose andmy purr springs to life again. He holds me closer and my body relaxes, feeling at ease in his arms.
“We finally found you,” he whispers, and that’s all it takes for me to pull his lips toward mine, and seal them with a kiss, not caring where we are or that I’m pretty sure my entire life and career has blown up in the matter of minutes.
A very big problem to worry about later.
