Sage lifted his head and noticed that he was still looking at Garridan through his snake’s eyes, although his teeth had receded.
Chapter Eight
Sage sat in the living room, on the couch next to Garridan. His eyes had yet to change back. By the gods, they wouldn’t go back to his human eyes, no matter what he did or thought about. He was having a hard time sitting still too. His horniness was not receding at all and it was making him squirm. His teeth would drop down at weird times and then go back up again.
Talk about embarrassing.
They were waiting for Vaughan and Forrest to get to the house before the family meeting started. The only other people in the room besides Garridan and himself were Lucas, Jules, Ladon, and Ramsey. Sage thanked all that was holy that Mother Estelle or Vaughan wasn’t in the room watching him hornball out. Mother Estelle had been a second mother his whole life, so getting horny in front of her would have made him feel dirty, and Vaughan would have teased him to death.
The problem was Ramsey said for the whole family to be there so Sage couldn’t go back to hisroom, even if he wanted to.
“I can’t change my eyes back.”
Garridan turned and their eyes met. “It’s okay.”
“Vaughan will make fun of me,” Sage whispered to him.
Garridan growled. “No one will say a word, or I’ll rip their heads off.”
Sage would have smiled, but Garridan was serious. That was not an empty threat.
Ladon brushed up against Sage’s arm as he moved to the couch and Sage yelled, “Don’t touch me!” He practically jumped on Garridan, who tightened his hold and held him close.
“Okay. Gods, it was just an accident. Sorry. Even if I was a disgusting pervert, which I’m not, your mate scares the shit out of me.” Ladon rolled his eyes and then turned to Jules, which was what he was doing to begin with. Ladon patted his legs and Jules stood, waiting for Ladon to scoot over a bit before sitting on his lap. “See, more room.” Apparently, Ladon had been trying to give them space right from the start.
Sage turned to Garridan. “Maybe instead of killing someone I can sit on your lap. Hide my face so no one will see me.” That would keep everyone from touching him and would also fix the problem he was currently having with his hard cock displayed for the whole damn family to see. He already had a hand over it, trying to hide the thing. Everyone in the room knew what he was doing, but at least they were kind enough to pretend they didn’t.
“Come here, then.” The muscles in Garridan’s jaw bunched and his eyes changed as Sage stood from his seat on the couch.
The second he straddled Garridan’s lap his teeth dropped. He touched the spot on Garridan’s neck. He was breathing heavily, wanting to bond so bad it was hard to fight the instinct.
Sage moved his hand down to the hem of Garridan’s shirt, lifting it so he could feel skin. He brought his hands around to Garridan’s sides and then leaned forward. Sage laid his head on Garridan’s chest, tilting his face up so that Garridan’s neck hid his eyes.
“Are you okay?” Sage asked Garridan, who started growling.
Garridan’s hold tightened. “Mine.” The word came out sharply, as if he’d snapped it at someone.
Sage lifted his head, trying to find out what had set Garridan off, but all he saw was Owen and Kristin coming into the room. Both looked at him as if he had grown two heads. His behavior was odd, especially compared to how he’d been just yesterday. It was a complete turnaround.
“Mine,” Garridan said again.
Sage kissed Garridan’s cheek, trying to distract him. “What’s wrong?”
“Do not look at him.” Garridan stood. By the gods, Garridan was making sure no one teased him. His mate was defending him before it even became a thing.
“Yes, sir,” Owen said and lowered his head, as was the traditional sign of respect for a dragon shifter. Kristin did the same thing.
“Wait. Did you just make sure they didn’t see Sage’s boner? Oh my God, I think you did. That is the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen you do.” Leave it to Lucas to state the obvious.
Garridan growled low in his throat. “Enough.”
Lucas scowled. “I’m just surprised you’re nice. Although, I guess I shouldn’t be. Sage is the only one you care about.”
“I said, enough.”
“Yes, sir,” Lucas said in a tone that said he wanted to turn Garridan into a toad.
“I’m yours. Just yours, Garridan.” Sage tried to get him to focus on something else, before he decided to rip someone’s head off. “And you’re mine.”
