“That’s a really fantastic way to wake up,” he said, his voice husky.

“How about this?” she said, getting up on her knees to get a better angle before she engulfed his cock.

“Oh, Rachel, honey,” Gunner groaned.

Banging on the storm door had Rachel pulling off his cock.

“Did we lock the front door last night,” Rachel whispered.

Gunner extricated them from the covers, jumping up. “Nope,” he said, dragging on his jeans.

“How are we playing this?” Gunner asked.

Rachel just stared at him, not knowing what to say. She hadn’t considered this.

“Mama, we’re hiding from the boys,” Chelle yelled.

Rachel ran to the door, closing and locking it. “Okay, Chelle, I need to get dressed. Who’s with you?” she asked, staring at Gunner, trying to figure out how to handle this.

“Just Blake and Phoebe. We’re hiding from Benji and Marcus. We’re going to hide in the loft,” Chelle yelled.

Rachel’s shoulders relaxed. At least the kids hadn’t seen bare flesh.

“They can’t see your door from the loft. Do you want me to leave out the door to the garage or your back door? If you’re not ready for them to know I spent the night, I’m fine with that. They needstability, and I’ll do whatever you think is best,” Gunner said softly.

Could this man be any more perfect?

Rachel slid her arms around him. “I think we need to prepare them and have an answer about Maynard because I don’t want them to ever think I cheated on him.”

“I agree. Let’s get dressed. You can check for anyone else coming in. I’ll go through the garage and out the side door. If anyone sees me, they’ll think I was on a walk, especially since we left my bike at the clubhouse,” he said, finishing dressing.

She slipped on clothes and didn’t worry about brushing her hair or teeth yet. She slipped the door open and peeked out. The coast was clear.

“Thank you,” she said, kissing his cheek.

“Thank you and to be continued,” he said, grinning and slipping out the door to the garage.

The front door banged open as she turned around.

“Mama, have you seen Chelle?” Marcus asked.

“Why do you ask, and where are you supposed to be?” Rachel asked.

Her heart was calming down. She’d just have to give up on a leisurely morning in bed and then breakfast. She’d shower and then see if Regina or anyone needed help with Sunday lunch.

She wished she and Gunner would have had more time together. Besides wanting to finish what she started, she’d made the decision to share the plan she and Beth had put into motion. Maybe they could find time after lunch.

She couldn’t wait for the day that Gunner would stay the night and there wouldn’t be any hiding. She’d never had shower sex and was looking forward to experimenting with him. But on a deeper level, she missed him when he wasn’t around. Each touch, each word he’d given her had shown her that she had nothing to fear and everything to gain.

Chapter Sixteen

Rachel paused unloading the books to sit down for a minute. Between the Franks sisters and the other women, she’d spent half the evening laughing. Gunner and some of the guys were playing with the kids at Beth and Flick’s outdoor laser tag course. Marcus and Chelle had been so excited.

“So, you mean to tell me that you and War didn’t like each other when he came back?” Frankie asked.

“Oh, he was a dick on an epic level. We had gotten crossways in high school, and he couldn’t see the business owner I’d become, but sometimes the hardest roads bring the greatest adventures,” Remi said.

“Blah, blah, blah, I don’t want to hear how perfect your life is. Your child isn’t walking yet and can’t get into everything. We’ll talk about the perfect road to love when you’re pregnant and your children don’t know the meaning of a closed door,” Sprite whined.
