“Yeah, it do. Cause them muthafuckas is lying. I didn’t take Tera toherdoctor’s appointment. We both took Shi to hers.”

Her lashes fluttered.

“So, like I said, who told you that?” She shook her head.

“Ion know why the fuck would you suddenly listen to any outside muthafuckas. Outside of Sundays, nobody can say what we do or don’t do. I damn sho’ aint reporting to nobody. So, why would you run with what you heard, without talking to me first?”

“I was gonna talk to you.”

“When?” I growled, becoming heated. “Once I got home.”

“And how did you honestly believe that was finna go, after you

haven’t been answering my calls? Huh?” I pressed my body against hers.

She shrugged.

“I was gonna beat that ass. That’s what.”

She sucked her teeth, and shoved me, but I didn’t budge.

“You better grow up, lil’ girl. Can’t be playing these childish ass games. Cause you’on want these problems. I guarantee that.”

“Orwhatyougonedo,huh?Gobackandfuckwithyour

firstBM?”

I grimaced. “Where the fuck did that come from?”

“Shit, that’s where it’s headed. You already got the bitch living down the street,” she slurred, helping me to realize that she’d been drinking. “Might as well put me in a house too. Then we can all live in walking distance, and you can see all your kids.”

“So, that’swhat youwant?”

Her nostrils flared. “No! What I want is a man that reads the fucking room. You can put her in a house. Pay her bills. But Ion wanna see her fucking face every day. She should’ve been going no further than the fucking driveway to pick the girls up, after that

first day she popped up. But maybe you’re cool with it, because y’all got unfinished business. And if that’s the case, then I’ll gladly remove myself from the equation. Then go kick it with whoever I want—”

Angrily,Igrippedherjaw.“Kickitwithwho?Huh?”

Soya tapped my shoulder. “Face, y’all in the middle of the club.”

“Shit, tell that to your stupid ass cousin,” I growled.

“Sheaintgottatellmenothing,”Babisnapped, asshe attempted to step around me.

I snatched her ass up. “Where the fuck are you going?” I spoke in her ear.

“Away from you.”

I tightened my arms around her. “Why you doing all this, Keshawn? Huh? You aint got nothing to be worried about. Just because I regret how I treated Tera don’t mean that I wanna be with her. Maybe if I’d known that she had cancer when she was

first diagnosed, then I probably would’ve made it work with her. But it didn’t pan out like that. She handled it how she saw ft, and I met you. That’s the end of the story.”

She shook her head. “But I can’t keep living in a space where another woman is allowed to cross the threshold and claim that she don’t like me.”

“Then she won’t come in the house. It’s as simple as that. You could’ve been said something.”

She huffed. “I was just frustrated, and clubbing was supposed to ease my mind. You wasn’t supposed to show up here. I was supposed to shake my ass in peace.”
