“Have you thought about what you wanted to do with the jury members, and the judge?”
I pause. “Not really. I mean, they’ll go out in style, that’s for sure. Why? Did you think of something?”
“Cove and I were playing a card game,” he starts talking. “And a thought suddenly occurred to me. What if we came up with a game?”
“What kind of a game?” I sit up, straddling him, and his hands immediately come to my bare thighs, rubbing his thumbs on my sensitive skin.
“A hunter and prey game. We’ll find a spot where the game will be held, and we’ll take all of them there. Each prey will be offered a weapon of their choice, and we’ll have a clock. If they manage to stay alive before the clock hits zero, or if they kill us,they run free. But since the chances of that happening are zero, we’ll just get to enjoy ourselves and have fun killing them.”
My eyes immediately widen, my mouth parting. Excitement rushes through my veins, and the bubble of pure frenzy bursts inside of me, my body shuddering in delight. “That’s such a good idea,” I beam.
“I’ll have Cove join us. That would be the first game. For all others that will follow, we’ll draw cards. The combined outcome of all cards will equal the number of people we’ll take to the playground and hunt.”
“What kind of people, though?”
“Killers, rapists, abusers, the worst of humanity.”
“Yes,” I respond immediately, anger starting to simmer beneath the surface. “God, yes that sounds amazing, Baby. Let’s do this!”
Arlo grips my thighs chuckling to himself, trying to calm me down a little. “Once we’re done dealing with Simmons, yes. We’ll do it. We’ll do it as many times as humanly possible, and we’ll have fun taking down all of those fuckers.”
Immediately, I cup his cheeks and kiss him. He laughs a little more, then his hand comes to the back of my head, pulling me closer.I don’t think I could ever tire of kissing him.The taste of freedom on his lips, the taste of vengeance that he’s paving for me is enough to be certain of one thing — my body, soul and mind belong to Arlo. I’ll forever be his, for as long as he’ll have me by his side.
Slowly, I pull back, licking my lips.
“You should go get ready before I decide to keep you locked up today.” he groans.
I laugh, then peck his lips again, and reluctantly get off him. “Did you think of a name for the game?”
“I was thinking… Kortlek.”
“Oh?” I open the doors of the closet, then turn to look at him. “What does that mean?”
He smiles sheepishly. “Just a word for deck of cards in Swedish.”
I snort. “Creative.”
“Hey, it works. But if you don’t like it, you can change it.”
I ponder on the thought for a minute, and start looking for something to wear. “Nope, it’s fine. Leave it like that.”
My hands reach for a hoodie that Arlo got me, and it’s cute. In a baby blue shade, matching my bow. Yes, he got me a new ribbon, exactly the same as the old one and I haven’t taken it off since he gave it to me. It’s either in my hair, around my neck or wrist. Depending on the day, but it’s always with me, a little symbol of Arlo that I carry around with me everywhere.
I opt for a pair of leggings, and some sneakers. It’s a casual kind of day, and given that Amy might decide to try and fight me, I’d rather wear something comfortable when I inevitably have to hand her, her ass on a plate. Once I’m dressed, I turn to face Arlo. He’s dressed, too, in his usual dark shirt, pants and shoes. He’s holding his cologne in his hand, and once I’m close enough, he sprays it a few times on my hoodie. A small smile tugs at the corners of my lips, and I couldn’t hold it back even if I tried. His scent immediately fills the air around me, and I inhale deeply. I could drown in this scent.
“There,” he hums happily, stepping back. “Now you smell like mine.”
“More, please.”
Arlo snorts, but complies anyway. He sprays it another few times, over my stomach, chest and shoulder area, until I’m completely smothered in the divine smell.
“Satisfied now?” he grins at me.
Grinning back at him, I sigh, “Very.”
He kisses the tip of my nose, and I scrunch it in response as blush creeps up my cheeks. He knows all the little ways to make me smile and I love that he does them just because he can.
“Where are you meeting the girls?”
