DREW:I’m a corporate lawyer, you dumbass.
KIM:Who needs a job then?
DREW:Ryan’s brother.
VAL:Oooo, the sexy ex-con.
DREW:Should I remind you that you’re married?
KIM:That doesn’t mean she can’t appreciate the muscle mountain that man is.
DREW:Not my type. Let me know if you hear anything.
I chuckle at my siblings and decide to add something to the exchange.
ME:Sisters you are right, that guy is MAJOR eye candy and you can appreciate all you want just don’t expect the same in return because he’s playing on our team.
KIM:Fuck off, not him too. Please tell me Gavin has a straight brother.
ME:Sorry, sis. Only child.
Jordan knocks at the window and I wave him in.
“Hi, you’re early.” He shouldn’t be here for another thirty minutes, and judging by his expression something went down.
“I took off early because my boss is an asshole and I needed a breather.” He rolls his eyes. I know all about how his boss can be. If it wasn’t for how good Jordy is at his job he would fire him just for being gay. And he doesn’t even wear makeup to work. I hate that he has to work in a place where he has to hide his true self.
“Hey, Jordy.” Carter calls him to his station, and I take that opportunity to go collect my goodbye kiss. But as I walk into the hall an idea strikes me. I know Jordan told me not to do this, but fuck that. He would totally do this and more for me. So I grab my phone and shoot a text to Drew. I would call him but I always check in first in case he’s in a meeting. I enter Gavin’s office for some privacy and my screen lights up.
“What’s up, little bro? Everything okay?” It’s his usual greeting. I don’t know if it’s a lawyer thing or what.
“Yeah, everything’s good. I have a favor to ask.” Jordy is going to be pissed at me, but it’s totally worth it.
“What is it?” I can hear his brotherly concerned tone.
“You know people in your industry, right?”
“Suuure?”
“I need you to keep an ear out for anyone needing a new paralegal.”
“You’re shitting me?”
“No, why would I? Jordy’s boss is a dick so I decided to find him a new one.”
“Jordy? Oh, Pete, you have no idea how good the timing on this is. One of my partners just lost his paralegal and he has an opening. A paralegal with Jordan’s experience would be perfect. When can he come see us?”
Excited for my friend, I discuss details with Drew before stepping out into the hall again.
“Knock, knock.” The door to the private tattoo room is open, but I don’t walk inside. It’s a private space for a reason, so it should remain that way. Gavin stands up and stalks toward me with that feral look in his eyes that makes my dick jump up to say hello. Wasting no time at all he presses me against the wall with his large body, dragging a moan from my throat. “Grumpy, it should be a quick kiss, not a make-out session.” I don’t think he heard me, or maybe he just knows how much I love when he gets like this, when he kisses me with such passion and intensity like he needs it in order to keep breathing.
“There.” Pulling back he kisses the tip of my nose. “Now I can survive until I see you again.” He grins clearly proud of himself for the dazed look I’m now sporting.
“Damn, Gavin, but now I’m not sure if I’ll survive.” Chuckling, I adjust myself. I stand on my tiptoes to give him another quick kiss. “See you later.” I walk backwards drinking in every last promising look he sends my way.
“Are you done yet?” Jordy’s voice startles me and I jump into the air before landing on my ass on the floor making all the guys laugh.
“Glad I can be your entertainment.” I stand and take a bow, because why the hell not. Isn’t the first time I’ve fallen on my ass in this place and it sure as fuck won’t be the last. Linking arms with my bestie we head for the front door. “Let’s go, we have places to be.”
