“’Kay,” he said, sounding like he was in a daze.
As I made my way out of the apartment, I heard Oscar practically gushing.
“Woo, child, that man is smoking hot. When he gripped your throat, I almost said‘me next!’”
He and Will laughed like hyenas as I chuckled and walked out the door.
When I gotto the clubhouse, I made a beeline to my room to shower and get dressed. As soon as I made it into the common room, a few of the brothers were looking at me strangely, causing my heart to speed up.
Did they know about Will?
I took a seat in one of the recliners. “What?” I looked around nervously as if I had already been caught.
Thor snorted. “Oh, you know what. You finally got that hot piece of ass you've been chasing, huh?”
“What?” I repeated on the verge of hyperventilating.
“Why are you acting clueless? For the past few weeks, you disappear in the evening, coming back late as fuck. But lately, you don’t even sleep here. So, tell us what woman has got you by the balls. Is there about to be another Ol’ Lady added to the roster?” Thor fired question after question.
I breathed out a sigh of relief. My heartbeat slowed down, and I could breathe easier. Even though he wasn’t talking about Will, I still felt somewhat caught.
“Thor, leave him alone. If he wanted to talk about his love life, he would. Sometimes your ass is too damn nosy,” Cara teased him.
Thor slapped a hand to his chest like he was offended. “I am not nosy! Just… observant,” he defended himself.
A few of us chuckled because he was really downplaying how intrusive he could be.
“You know that’s the exact thing a nosy person would say,” Blade told him.
I was glad the conversation had moved on from me to Thor as the guys took turns teasing him. I was in no way preparedto answer questions. I didn’t even think anyone had noticed me disappearing like I had. Hell, I was considered the quiet one. I spent most of my time in my room or the cave.
Now that I knew Thor had been paying attention to my whereabouts, I was going to have to get a little more creative when sneaking off to Will’s place. This conversation in no way was going to deter what I had going with him.
Staying away wasn’t even an option. I was too far gone for that. Will had me tied up in his web, and there was no way to untangle me from it.
Chapter Seven
WILL
The kickback was in full swing, and I was having the time of my life. I was kind of bummed when I got a text from Debbie saying she wasn’t coming. I wasn’t shocked, though. Debbie was extremely quiet and reserved. I knew a party really wouldn’t be her kind of scene. She was more of the sit-at-home-with-a-glass-of-wine-and-a-romance-novel type.
Not that there was anything wrong with that.
As soon as I got here, my eyes landed on Tech seated at the bar with some of the brothers and a few women. He wasn’t talking to any of them, but I couldn’t help the sudden feeling of jealousy. This was a feeling I wasn’t used to having. I didn’t have a jealous bone in my body, but Tech was changing me.
Sometimes, I didn’t know whether that was a good thing or a bad thing. What I did know was that I wanted to continue being with him. Yeah, it sucked that we were a secret, but I would endure for him. And only him. I was convinced he was my soul mate. The way I felt about him so quickly wasn’t normal.
There was something different about Tech. He was unlike any man I had been with before. He was super affectionate yet dominant. When I talked, he listened. He wanted to know everything there was to know about me. He was so much morethan his physique. But I wasn’t about to downplay his looks like they weren’t top-tier.
God, that man was sexy. The first time he took his shirt off, and I saw that lion tattoo on his back with eyes that matched his, I almost melted. I think what I liked the most was that he didn’t look like the common tattooed biker. His glasses made him appear more cerebral.
It was so hard resisting the urge to stare at him during this kickback. I didn’t want to give us away, but damn, I wanted to be near him. It didn’t help that a few women were making passes at him. When he didn’t pay them any mind, they took heed of the message and moved away.
We weren’t too far apart. I was currently sitting next to Sara at one of the pool tables next to the bar. Cara and Thor were going at it. She won the first round, and he won the second. Now they were going for a third to determine the winner.
I must say, at first, I didn’t know how to act. I mean, despite that I’d gotten close to the ladies, they were still my bosses. Any wavering thoughts I had about how I needed to behave were dismantled when Cara told me to get a few shots and loosen up.
Professional Will went out the window, and kickback-and-have-a-good-time Will clocked in.
