Chapter Thirty-Two

SITTING IN CHURCH,I know my girl isn’t going to listen to anything I said about her staying home. She’s going to head for her aunt and uncle’s house all on her own. It’s a feeling I have deep in my gut as I stand from my seat and head for the door of church. No one says a word as I open one of the doors and look at the Prospect guarding our stuff. He looks at me in shock as I reach for the basket holding our phones.Grabbing mine out, I leave the rest alone and head back into church after closing the door behind me.Everyone stares as I smile and open my phone before pulling up the tracking app.Yes, I have trackers on Annistyn for her own protection. There’s one in her camera bag because more often than not she’ll have that with her.On the rare occasion she doesn’t take it, I made sure I could track her phone.Call me paranoid or an asshole, I really don’t give a shit.As long as she’s protected, I don’t care what I have to do.

“What the fuck are ya doin’?”Caleb asks me, his voice full of the laughter he’s trying to hold back. This is why he’s my best friend and brother. He knows when I’m doing something out of character and doesn’t get pissed at me.Instead, he holds in his laughter and simply goes along with whatever I’m doing.

“Annistyn said she wanted to confront her aunt and uncle.Even though I asked her to stay on the compound and that we’d take her once we have plans in place for her safety, I know she’s not gonna listen to me.This is somethin’ she has to do for herself. To get the closure she deserves to have.My gut is tellin’ me she’s already left the compound,” I answer him, looking at the tracker as it moves on my screen.“She’s almost there as we speak.”

“Fuckin’ hell,” Viper says, sitting up straighter in his seat.“You’re really okay with her goin’ there alone?”

“No, I’m not.I’m guessin’ she has the gun Roger bought her. He’s been teachin’ her how to shoot. She can clean and load the gun herself as well.He taught her the same way the guys taught us when we were growin’ up,” I say before looking at Caleb.“She doesn’t know I know she has the gun and where she keeps it.I found it the day she came back home.”

“Jesus. She’s really been doin’ everythin’ she can to improve her life,” Caleb says as he smirks at me.“Church is over.Let’s head the fuck out so we can be there for her.”

We all stand from the table as Caleb slams the gavel on the table in front of him.Viper and Caleb walk on either side of me as Master walks behind.I can hear him on the phone and I know it’s with Annistyn’s uncle. The one who’s building a case against the two biggest monsters in her life. He’s filling him in on what’s going on right now with his niece and I have a feeling I’ll be meeting this uncle very soon.

Getting on my bike, I start the engine and put my helmet on.Caleb gets ready to ride out next to me and looks at me before the two of us pull out in sync.By the time we reach the gate, the Prospect has it opened for us.We ride straight through and head toward the farm.A few of the guys already know where the house is because they’ve been out there while I was still back home. The second I asked them to search for her, they checked out their farm to make sure they didn’t get their hands on her again. The last thing we wanted was for them to have her and do something even worse than what they already have.

“You sure your girl is ready for this?”Caleb asks me through our comm system.

“She is.Annistyn is so much stronger than ever before and needs to have this confrontation. We can be there as support, but it has to be led by her.She needs answers to the questions she undoubtedly has and we’re only her support,” I answer him honestly as I keep my gaze locked on the road in front of me.

“So, Roger has really been teachin’ her how to shoot?”Viper asks, butting into our conversation.“Figured that would be somethin’ you would want to do.”

“She’s gonna go shootin’ with me.We’ve already talked about goin’ to the range.Roger called me when she was on the ranch for treatment. He wanted her to have a way to protect herself in any situation. It’s why she talked to us about boxin’, self-defense, and workin’ out when she got back to the clubhouse. She’s shot a gun every day on the ranch for hours.Like I said, he taught her every single basic before she even pulled the trigger.I would trust her to clean every single one of my guns, load them, and ensure they’re workin’ properly,” I say, my voice full of pride because this isn’t something I was sure Annistyn would want to learn. It’s one thing to learn how to fight and something else entirely to use a gun.A weapon that can take a person’s life in the blink of an eye.

“I never saw them go to a range since we’ve been at the ranch,” Viper says and I can’t help but laugh.

“If she wanted you to know, you would have seen them. They were there every single day without fail.Annistyn actually loves goin’ there and used to beg Roger to take her,” I state as we ride onto a road in desperate need of repairs.

All of us slow down as Caleb points at a rundown house just ahead on our left.We all pull in the rutted driveway and park as close as we can.Getting off our bikes, we surround the house and I head for the back door while Caleb remains at the front.Still using our comms, Caleb counts us down and we burst inside the house. My eyes immediately land on Annistyn as she holds her aunt and uncle at gun point.None of them are saying a word as I step up to her back, barely leaving any room between the two of us.

“You good, Pixie?”I ask her, not touching her because it’s not what she needs right now.

“Hey, Kreed.I’m okay.Sorry I left the compound without you guys,” she says without taking her eyes from the couple in front of her.

“Already knew you weren’t gonna listen to me, Pixie.Came here as soon as I checked my phone.I’ll explain it later. What do you need from us?”I question her, not sure where this confrontation is heading.

“Can you tie them to the chairs or something?”she asks, her voice still strong and steady as I nod to a few guys and they move to put her aunt and uncle in the chairs around the kitchen table. The two of them scream and holler at us to get out of their house and her uncle actually tries to hit Caleb. With a nod from Annistyn, Caleb punches her uncle in his face and almost knocks him out.

“How dare you fucking hit me!Do you know who I am?”her uncle shouts, spitting blood on the floor at his feet.

“I’ll tell you exactly who you are,” Annistyn says, her voice strong and steady as she keeps the gun trained on the asshole who gave her a ton of scars because he’s a piece of shit.“You’re an abusive piece of shit. You’re selfish.A tyrant.Lazy.An addict.A manipulative cheater. And last but certainly not least, you’re a murderer. You killed my parents because you sold me to some prick who wanted me for some sick reason. You’ve sold me multiple times over the years and never once followed through. You’re fucking disgusting.”

“How did you figure it out?”her uncle questions her while smirking in her direction.“You were always too stupid to put two and two together before now.”

“That’s because you refused to allow me to attend school.Everything I know is because I taught myself. Some of the men here supporting me right now put everything together and told me.I thought the two of you made me sick before because you’re so vile. It’s so much worse than I ever thought. When I think of everything you did to me over the years, how you killed my parents in cold blood, I want to throw up.I was never more than a servant to you and to know you’ve sold me off to the highest bidder multiple times proves how disgusting you are,” Annistyn answers him as I watch on with pride.

I watch in awe as Annistyn doesn’t cower in the face of her aunt and uncle. She’s saying what she needs to and I know the questions are coming.Things she deserves the answers to.

“What did my parents ever do to you?You had no reason to kill them,” she asks her first question as I remain at her back and the rest of the guys stand around the kitchen silently.

“Your parents kept you as their fucking princess. You were all they ever talked about and they spoiled you rotten. When we got the offer to sell you, it was for a lot of money,” her uncle states as if he’s talking about the weather and not how he first destroyed my girl’s life.“You didn’t deserve a single thing they gave you or did for you.All of that money should have been ours. But, your mom was always the good girl and she got left everything when her parents died.Even this farm was supposed to be hers. The only reason we got it is because she looked down on us and handed it over after we guilted her into doing so.”

“I was three years old!”Annistyn explains, her body starting to tremble with all the emotions flowing through her right now.“You never deserved a single penny of their money.Money they earned through hard work.Something you don’t know the meaning of.They didn’t deserve to have their lives cut short.”
