“Fine,” Reid sighs. “But after brunch, you're ours for the rest of the day.”
“Of course." I hug Reid. “Thank you.”
The instructions Cea’s Alphas sent me are vague, but I’m not going to complain. Thankfully, they gave me an address for my GPS. They made special plans for us, and now I get to see my bestie, that's all that matters to me.
The front door opens, and excitement bubbles through me. When I see her black hair, my face lights up. With the window rolled down, I can hear her grumbling about what the hell is going on and who the hell is in the car.
“Go see.” One of her guys says, urging her forward.
She huffs and stalks to the car. When she bends down to look in the window, her jaw drops.
“Addie!” her voice squeaks.
“Surprise, bitch!” I cheer, happy tears streaking my cheeks.
She throws open the door and launches herself at me. “Holy fuck, you’re really here. I missed you! Why didn’t you tell me you were coming for a visit?”
“Long story. One we can talk about over brunch.”
“Brunch?” She sits back and looks out the door to her Alphas.
“Surprise, baby. Go have fun with your best friend. We’ll, come grab you after.”
Pulling away from the house, Cae and I listen to music, singing along badly like old times.
“Alright, girl. Spill,” Cae says once we get to the restaurant and place our orders.
“Ugh, where to start?” I sigh. “So, let’s begin with the fact that I’m kind of, sort of,alsopacked up with some Scented Scorpions."
I tell her all about the bullshit my mother has put me through, the packs she set me up with, and the fact that shewanted to pawn me off on one of them. Cae looks ready to find my mom and beat her ass. I’d pay to see that. Another reason why I love my best friend so much.
I tell her about the party where I met Carson and Reid, and how we’ve been working on our pack dynamic, and what we’re going to do since we are long-distance.
And then I drop the bomb about the connection between my three best guy friends and their real identities.
“Hold the fuck up. You’re telling me Carson, Reid, and your stepbrother are the guys you’ve been playing with online for years?! That'scrazy.”
She already knew about Death, Grim, and Waffle. What she didn’t know was the pathetic crush I had on them for years, or that they are the reason I never dated.
“Small world, huh?” I laugh.
“How are the guys taking it? Did they know they were friends with their rivals?”
“No, they didn’t. It’s taken some getting used to, but Damien wants to see me happy, so he hasn’t made it a big deal. Same with Carson and Reid.”
I don’t tell her that Damien is also my Alpha. I never told her about my crush on him, and with the past Damien and I share, it’s not something I want to talk about right now.
While things between Damien and me have been amazing lately, the fact that we have to hide our relationship from the world sucks.
The only reason why the guys haven’t told anyone but their PR manager about me is because they don’t think it’s fair for the world to know we are matched without including Damein.
We plan to keep this to ourselves until Damien feels like it’s the right time to spill the beans, so to speak. I’m hoping it’s after the season ends, like he mentioned before. In this world of professional hockey, it’s complicated.
I told her about Carson and Reid because that’s not something I can easily hide when I’m visiting Nashville so much. I asked the guys if it was all right, and they agreed.
“Well, that's nice of them. Still.Whoa.”
“So, that's my life.” I laugh. “How about you?”
